Directly over the island's most beautiful beach, São Lourenço, stands the house named ABOVE THE SEA, situated entirely on its own. The site is the most spectacular on the island, with overwhelming vistas out over the Atlantic Ocean and a rocky islet close by. The roar of the sea is to be heard, and sometimes one can watch whales and dolphins.

ABOVE THE SEA is an old country cottage that we restored lovingly in the way the Azorean ancestor had designed it. It consists of a kitchen-cum-living room, a small lounge with fireplace, bedroom, and bathroom. Furnishings are functional and exceptionally comfortable. There is heating in every room.

The house has two spacious terraces, surrounded by flowering trees, one shaded by a palm tree. The associated grounds are very large (12,600 m² / more than three acres). A drivable way leads down to the cottage, ending there. The house and all of its surroundings, not observable due to the secluded position, radiate an atmosphere of special calmness and peacefulness hardly no longer to be found anywhere.

Distances: It is 2 km (1.2 miles) from the nearest village, Santa Bárbara, which has a shop selling groceries and a pub, it is also 2 km away from the sandy beaches of São Lourenço (there is also a nearby footpath leading down). It is 11 km (6.8 miles) to the largest town in the island, Vila do Porto, which has supermarkets, restaurants and shops of all descriptions. It is 13 km (8 miles) to the airport.
