The rooms have been built using the indigenous woods of this area and the feel of the house can only be appreciated by actually visiting the property. We have furnished the manor with pieces that reflect the history of the building including crystal chandeliers made in 1864 up to furniture from the 1950’s.
Lawnwood Lodge is a purposely built guest lodge with 19 bedrooms and a large lounge area and office space. All rooms are tastefully decorated and are furnished with antiques from different eras. The outside walls of the building have been clad with local stone and the effect has been to give this modern structure a very old world appearance.
The Restaurant can seat up to 100 diners and is of course also decorated and furnished in a way that is sympathetic to the general feel of the property.
The Portland Arms Pub has been housed in the oldest building on the farm and has an ambience that is almost impossible to replicate. Various amenities including a pool table, dart board and a large screen television are available in an adjoining room.
The Conference and Function Centre seats up to 150 people, with staff quarters above.
Other buildings on the estate include a huge 1000 square meter farm barn, two managers’ houses; staff quarters a two bedroom old farm house which has three bedrooms all en-suite and a one bedroom appt is currently being used as the owners residence.
There are three water dams on the farm one of which covers an area of seven hectares and is up to 12 metres deep. This dam alone will allow any purchaser a vast array of possibilities to utilize the estate for whatever purpose they volume of water on the property is a great asset and will be of great assistance should further development be visualised.
There are a number of game animals on the estate including Gnu, Bontebok, Zebra, ostrich and our world famous Hippo, Herbertha. The indigenous forest on the farm has a wide range of wild life.
The estate borders the Knysna River on its eastern extremity.
