House for Sale in Manzanillo, Punta Arenas, Costa Rica

Sunset Ocean View

This beautiful 2 storey, 2 bedroom house is made almost entirely of solid teak. All the hardwoood used in the construction of the house was meticulously handpicked from sustainable sources. The house was completed in 2007, and sits on 1128 square meters of titled land, safely outside the controversial Maritime Zone.

Downstairs the fully equiped kitchen is complimented by a selection of fine teak and guanacaste furniture. A spiral staircase leads from the large open terrace up to an equally spacious balcony with great views of the sunset over the pacific ocean. In front of the house a pathway leads through a shady forest frequented by monkeys and coatis. On a good day you can see whales from the balcony.

The house is located 300 meters back from the beach in the tranquil fishing village of Manzanillo de Cobano on the Pacific Coast. Manzanillo is a village that still retains its genuine tico charm. Parts of the area have recently been awarded the status of Forest Reserve, securing it a future free from over-development.

A 5 minute walk downhill from the house takes you to gorgeous Manzanillo beach, which has one small bar and a restaurant. 5 minutes walk futher up the beach you will find the nearest general store.

Manzanillo is located 20 minutes drive north of the popular surf resorts of Malpais and Santa Teresa, which boast world class surf breaks, a great selection of quality shops, bars and restaurants and an international bi-lingual school. High profile neighbours include Mel Gibson, Giselle Bunchen and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

The nearest airport is at Tambor 35 minutes drive away, from where there are regular daily flights doing the 20 minute hop to San Jose.

The property has its own electrity, great mobile coverage and the use of its own well.

The house weathered the recent earthquake prefectly well. I designed it to be earthquake proof, with a solid teak tree at each corner, so it simply wobbles during even the strongest quakes. It is at 100 meters of elevation, so it sits well above the tsunami danger zone.
