Ocean Waterfront Villa!

This charming little villa is situated in the charming seaside village of Plaka, in the region of Lasithi on the Eastern seaboard of Crete, about 10 minutes (by car ) from Elounda, about I hour’s drive east of Heraklion ( nearest airport ) and about 20 minutes from the thriving town of Agios Nikoloas.

It is directly on the beach at Plaka, and has a view direct to nearby island of Spinalonga which was originally a Venetian fortress, turned leper colony, and now a renowned tourist site.

The villa was originally the stone village school, had fallen into ruin, and was rebuilt from the original stone in the 1980’s, since when it has remained one family’s holiday residence.

The house has a private, sun-bathed terrace on the south side and a flat-top roof, which can also be used.

Plaka has a variety of tavernas, cafes and assorted shops. The nearest town of Elounda has all conveniences not available in Plaka.

Plaka is growing, and there will be considerable development in the surrounding area in the future as there is quite a lot of vacant land and the proximity to Elounda is a great draw-card.

As far as upward extensions are concerned, opinions differ - there may be a possibility of building another storey, but cannot be guaranteed.

It is highly unlikely that the house will be built around by other developments: the block on the left facing the sea is privately- owned, but too small to be authorized for a separate construction. On the right –had side is a vacant block believed to be state land (see aerial view on Google Earth by typing Plaka Lasithi).

The street outside the front gate is a sealed road and a car can
be parked beside the house.

The house is connected to mains electricity and mains water plus
a septic tank for sewerage.

Service costs (water and electricity) and local taxes are low.
