The Los Manglares Eco-Village (MEV) is an environment friendly urban development, located next to the village of Canoa. It has access to the ocean, while surrounded by the rivers Muchacho and Canoa, with mangroves growing on riverside that gives it a natural environment.
Canoa is a beach resort, which caters to local and foreign tourists. It´s located close to Bahia de Caraquez, and has one of the finest beaches in Manabí province, with a wide 17 km long strip of white sand.
The MEV aims to, without losing its virgin natural environment, integrate all modern day conveniences with the joys of the beach, giving the best of both worlds and controlling the impact on the environment. We are making a “green” village with an artificial lake, parks, walkways, and a minimum of streets for cars.
We are constructing a pedestrian bridge over the Canoa River, connecting it to the village of Canoa. The MEV is close to everything, and at the same time it is located in an environment full of nature and harmony, away from the noise of the city. Still, within a short walking distance, you find yourself in the village of Canoa.
The location is privileged for the development of activities related to tourism and living; Residential homes, hotels, restaurants, cafes and shops. To rationalize the activities and ensure an environment of comfort and coexistence, the MEV is zoned in respect to the allowed activities.
The MEV consists of a total area of 100,000 m2 (25 acres), with 69 lots, located; beach front, beach view, river side or (artificial) lake side.
The name Los Manglares comes from the fact that the area has some mangroves growing along the bank of the Muchacho River. These mangroves is part of the protection zone and green areas on the side of the river, to give shelter to many species of birds, protect the soil from deterioration and maintain the green environment.
The MEV will have a large park in the middle of the development. This park will consist of an already existing forested area, a recreational area and an artificial lake. The lake will have an island which is connected with two small bridges. A walkway gives access from the public beach.
The MEV is a semi gated community where residents and tourists alike enjoy the green areas and participate in the many touristy activities that will be provided.
