The on-site private water well taps into an underground river and was dug during the dry season. The water table was reached at 35 feet, and the submersible pump is set at 65 feet. The pump, also solar powered and separate from the house, lifts water to a 1750 liter holding tank. On an average sunny or partly cloudy day, the pump lifts at approximately 30 liters per minute. Water is gravity-fed to the house.

The driveway is approximately 1 kilometer in length from the main road to the river. The house is about 2/3 of the way from the road. The driveway consists of compacted crushed rock. Steep inclines and curves have been covered with reinforced concrete. Rain water drains quickly off the driveway and into small canals which empty into seasonal creeks feeding the Rio Chiriqui.

The block wall surrounding the main compound is strategically located so as not to block the stunning views of the river or cordillera. Yet, the 8-14 foot tall wall keeps pets in the yard, and wildlife out.
