Single Family Residential for Sale in Roatan, Honduras

Own Your Very Own Island Dream Home in Paradise

The July/Aug.2011 issue of Islands Magazine named Roatan the Number 1 island in the world to live and retire on and Scuba Diving Magazine ranked Anthony's Key Resort (AKR) the best dive resort. AKR is less than 2 blocks from my lovely Italian villa with spectacular views of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. $176,000 is the best price on Roatan for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom concrete and tile villa in any of the three most desirable locations on the island and taxes are less than $450 per year. All rooms are large with ceiling fans, a/c and parking for 4 vehicles. It's a short walk to pristine beaches and several excellent restaurants. In West End, a 10 minute drive, there are more beaches, restaurants, shopping and great night life after dark. The second largest reef in the world affords world class scuba diving and snorkeling. Pete and Perry Dye's 18-hole world-class Black Pearl golf course opened in 2010 and 14 of the holes have ocean views.

The trade winds are constant, so air conditioning is rarely required. It is delightful to relax on the spacious veranda, look at the changing colors of the ocean and watch the scuba dive boats, luxury boats, fishing boats, sail boats and a variety of other vessels glide by, which is both interesting and relaxing. If you would like to go for a swim or simply soak up the sun, a short walk will take you to a pristine and uncrowded beach. Later, you can enjoy a fabulous lunch or dinner in one of the islands best restaurants, Blue Bahia, which is close to the beach and also the villa, so this luxury is all yours without having to drive to get there.

Other island activities include swimming with dolphins at AKR, canopy rides, horseback riding, sailing, the iguana farm, trophy fishing; if exploring the ocean depths in the deepest diving tourist submarine in the world is more to your liking, you can visit Half Moon Bay in West End, which is only a short 10-minute drive from the villa. Sightseeing on the island is incredible from almost any vantage point. There is also the Shark Dive in Dixon Cove where there are dozens of reef sharks. Island hopping to some of the other Bay Islands is also an interesting pastime. If you have children, they will be captivated at the Iguana Farm. It's like visiting a different world where iguanas are everywhere including the trees. They will never forget the experience. The dolphin adventure at Anthony's Key Resort in Sandy Bay is also a wonderful family destination. It doesn't matter how many times you may have frolicked with dolphins before, the dolphins at Anthony's Key Resort are the friendliest and most lovable you will encounter anywhere and it is only a two block walk from the villa.

If you'd like to go for an adventure ride, you can rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle and travel to the east end of the island to Maya Bay, Port Royal or Camp Bay. The east end of Roatan is rich in pirate lore and along the way you might even meet several of the local islanders looking for a ride who would be quite willing to tell you stories told to them by their grandparents of events that have taken place on Roatan in bygone years.

If you have ever dreamed of owing your very own island home in paradise, this Italian villa is for you. It has all of the amenities you would require including air conditioning and seven ceiling fans as well as security features so that you, your family and your possessions will be totally secure. The villa comes partially furnished with new kitchen appliances (refrigerator and stove), some pots and pans, glasses and silverware; living room furniture, beds; veranda furniture as well as paint, paint brushes, tarps, ladders, and many other items in the vaulted storage room. There is a laundry room with a clothes washer as well as a vaulted storage room inside of the laundry room, which can be locked to secure items that you do not wish to keep inside of the house such as ladders, paint and so forth. There is a terrace on the roof, which is fantastic for sunbathing, and a veranda where you and your guests will probably spend much of your time. Because the villa is concrete with tiles throughout, very little maintenance is required. All the rooms are large and there is parking on the driveway for 4 vehicles.

The villa is wired for cable TV and internet and is quite unique in that electric outlets exist side by side throughout the house and on the roof for both U.S. and European standards. The roof is also plumbed and wired for the easy addition of a second floor should the new owner be interested in adding a second floor in the future.
