Lot/Land For Sale in Long Island Bahamas

Atlantic Beachfront/Oceanfront Long Island Residential Lot

Asking Price: $99,000 USD  (Negotiable)

This perfect residential lot is directly on the white/pink sands of the Atlantic Ocean, 8 miles from Long Island's capital Clarence Town, close to Deadman's Cay airport on Long Island's southern end.

Utilities are in place; road in place. I sold the lot next to this one and there is a house already constructed on that lot.

Lot is 100X100 square feet. 100 feet on the ocean.

Just about directly across from this lot on the leeward side of the island is a marina for your boat.

The views on the Atlantic side are nothing short of spectacular.
On the Atlantic side, you need not worry about insects and stagnant air that can be a summer nuisance on the leeward side, as you are treated to a constant and fresh breeze off the ocean.

There is also a small beach-protecting reef out in the ocean a short way in front of this lot.

If you have always dreamed of a winter beach home or a peaceful permanent residence, this lot could be the start of something special.

Now with the current legislation that is allowing all goods to be imported duty free, this will allow land buyers to build on their plots without having to pay the duty on their building materials. It offers a huge saving of 34% that whether you construct your home or a builder does, it makes having your Bahamian home much more realistic and affordable.

The small airports that currently operate flights from Nassau and Gt Exuma are also set for expansion to allow international flights from the USA, so inevitably the island will start to get busier and prices will rise on plots of land and homes will get more and more expensive. The Duty free status is on the island NOW and it is a window of opportunity that is only open now.

Clarence Town - which is the nearest town to the development has the island's prettiest harbour and is home to the local Government buildings. It is noted for its twin churches, and shops, harbour bar restaurant and beach. Just south of the town is Salt Pond where the annual Sailing regatta is held and a beautful double bay with great scenery, safe swimming and occasional body surfing. It is the first port of call for all your daily needs.

Everything is available on the island including Cable TV,telephones, and high speed internet..

New Flights to Long Island

A recent expansion of services by The Bahamas national carrier Bahamasair means that they now operate a daily scheduled service to Stella Maris International Airport. This gives a further option when planning travel to and from Long Island.

Large resorts are being planned for Long Island, a new $550 million project with high end homes is planned and also Port St George with a 650 dock marina, golf course and hotel - the island is set to boom over the next couple of years. So it is a good time to invest now!

ABOUT LONG ISLAND
Although Long Island is 80 miles long, it is very narrow—no more than four miles at its widest point. The island is divided by the Tropic of Cancer and bordered by two very different coasts, one with rocky cliffs and caves that dip suddenly into the sea and the other with broad beaches.

The layout of the land has its contrasts as well. Sloping hills are dominant in the northeast, while low hillsides make up the southern portion of the island. This range of physical appearance is why Long Island is considered by many to be one of the more picturesque islands in The Islands Of The Bahamas. Long Island is considered to be one of Columbus' early stops, probably his third, after San Salvador and Rum Cay. Indians supposedly called it "Yuma" and Columbus named it "Fernandina" after his mentor in from Carolina settled here in 1790 with their slaves. They built vast plantations, which thrived briefly growing sea-island cotton, but the abolition of slavery made them unprofitable. Today many of the Loyalist mansions stand in skeletal form etched against the sky. Although the plantations are no more, agriculture is still very much a part of the life here. Some Long Islanders still engage in pot-hole farming, which involves planting in fertile holes. From these an abundance of peas, corn, pineapples and bananas are grown. Raising sheep, goats and pigs also provides a living for some of the people. Long Island is famous for its vegetables and cattle and supplies much of the farm goods to the other islands.
Long Islanders main source of income comes from Fishing and Construction. Crawfishing is a very lucrative industry for most of the people on the island. It is a multi-billion dollar industry in the Bahamas. This is the reason why so many Long Islanders are drawn to fishing and sometimes leave for weeks on fishing trips on large boats equipped like a house on water.
Tourism is also now becoming a great economic boost for the island as more and more people are discovering Long Island just like Colombus did and like him they are falling in love with this beautiful place!!!

Long Island offers quite a bit of attractions throughout the island. Everything from abandoned slave plantations to seemingly bottomless blue holes you will find here. There are countless breathtaking beaches with blinding white powder sands and emerald waters including Cape Santa Maria beach on the Northernmost end which is listed in the Top Ten Most Beautiful in the world. Then further South near the Capitol Clarence Town there is definitly one of the world's wonders the world famous Dean's Blue Hole listed as The World's Deepest Blue Hole dropping to a jaw dropping depth of over 650 feet. What's more unique about dean's blue hole is it's semi-inland location right on the beach with high cliffs all around that provides a spectacular view. There really is too much great attractions to list and to really experience them you have to make the trip here. There also is lots of activities throughout the island. You wouldn't be dissapointed!

In the past few years there have been a boom in developments throughout the island and more people are now buying beautiful properties with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. Currently there are a few very large developments being planned for Long Island including a Multi-Million Dollar Resort and many more smaller projects. The Long Island today is light years ahead in development compared to 10 - 15 years ago when there wasn't even electricity on the island. Now there is electricity and telephone service throughout the island and fresh running potable water in the major settlements. There currently is reliable cellular and DSL internet service including new GSM cellular service which has been proven to be rock solid so far. To cut a long story short the island is growing really fast and there isn't any stopping now
