Rakitna is in the central part of the wooded carst high plain, 800 m above the sea level. Because of the extraordinary favorable bioclimatic conditions that are created by the mixing of the Mediterranean and alpine air streams, it belongs to the places with the best climate of the middle mountain areas in Slovenia.
