In 1 hour we can reach Barcelona or France.
In 2 hours, we are on the Pyrenees Mountains.
In short: it's a very nice place to live, with a great touristic attractive.
The original buiding is a rural house of the 1625, completely refurbished on 2000/01/02, with interior patio, garden and solarium.
Inside we have tried to harmonise ?the warmest metropolitan desires with the simplicity of a rural architecture.
We have brought together the subtlest tones, colours and details and developed glamour.
The breakfast room is protected by the old tiled vault. ?
But, when the weather is good, you can go out, for breakfast, drink something or dinner, to the little tables, lined up towards the garden, open to the sweet landscape of green hills.
In the general atmosphere of comfortable elegance, several works of contemporary art stand out.
A minimalist but warm and welcoming style, with careful use of ambient colours: dense and deep.
The Hotel "El Somni" (The Dream) opened on June 2003.
Just six bedrooms: three Double Rooms, with Queen Size bed, and three Family Rooms, with Queen Size bed plus two Single beds.
All equiped by full bathroom with bath, shower and hair-dryer, AC/heating, TV-cable, telephone and mini-bar.
Few rooms, everyone characterised in different tones:
A canopied bed,
A window guarded by a great fig tree right up against the medieval wall,
A Mediterranean terrace with a pergola of bougainvilleas,
A pitched roof with an attic under the sky,
A viewpoint to the Romanesque convent of Sant Miquel,
A tiny suite on two floors, like a little sailing ship.
The owners are Anna and Sandro.
She's a teacher of Catalan literature and he is an Italian painter.
They met in Barcelona, Anna's hometown, at the opening of one of Sandro's exhibitions.
Love at first sight: so Sandro didn't go back home to Milan.
The idea was to find a house where they could live together and, during a long and romantic trip all over Great Britain, where they would spend each night in a different B&B, Anna had the idea:
"Why dont we do this, too?"
"Fine, darling, but where?"
"Where? Are you crazy? In the Baix Empordà, of course!"
And then Sandro fell in love with the countryside here too, that he had never seen before, but which was very similar to certain landscapes from Italian Renaissance paintings.
And the two of them fell in love with their new job too: doing everything they can to turn the costumer's stay into a "Dream come True".
