We are across the street from the Parque Arbolito, Casa Cultura Ecuatoriana and the Corte Constitucional. Historic colonial Quito is a 15 minute walk, the shopping/bar area of the Mariscal is a 5 minute walk, the Congress is 5 minutes away as well. The bus passes in front of the building; the trolley Ecovia stop for the Casa Cultura is across the park from us.
The apartment is on the 6th floor,which is the top floor, with two other neighbours on that floor. There are two indoor parking spaces in the underground garage, which is protected by an electronic security gate. We do not have any cars, so they are presently rented to lawyers from the court for $20 a month each.
The apartment is a split level, with the kitchen, living/dining room, bathroom and small second bedroom on the bottom floor. This is the floor with the large windows that look out over Quito. The view is not spectacular, but there is a lot of light coming in. The upper part of the apartment has a larger bedroom with a dressing nook and closet, as well as its own bathroom. Both bathrooms have showers. In addition, upstairs there is a small bodega for drying clothes or for storage, and landing/loft space which we are using as an office at the moment. This area has a desk, bookshelves, small fridge for drinks, and is set up for computers.
We are selling the apartment completely furnished., dining room, living room, beds, TV, washing machine, everything including the pots and pans.
The monthly maintenance/concierge/water bill for our apartment is US$60.10
The average electric bill is US$26. The basic phone +DSL internet is app. US$53 per month, which includes landline-to landline phone calls (up to a point). The YEARLY property taxes are around US$80....
We have owned the apartment since April 2008; we bought it while my girlfriend was working on a documentary project which will finish in December.
