Eco Lodge For Sale in Sierpe River And Mangrove Reserve, Osa Peninsula Costa Rica

A Sustainable Rainforest Eco Lodge In Costa Rica

Asking Price: $385,000 USD  (Negotiable - Financing Available)

This rare Jewel in the Jungle is something to behold. Eight open acres of immaculate grounds with mature fruit and palm trees, various species of ornamental trees and plants; ten acres of protected lowland primary rainforest plus two additional acres of usable land; your own stream and water source, newly built and recently remodeled buildings, solar power for the main source of electricity with a 9000 watt back-up generator and a water wheel for additional electricity.

Enjoy your own private swimming hole in the year-round fresh water stream that borders the property, which is also a water source for the lodge and cabins.

This slice of paradise comes complete with everything needed to live comfortably off the grid in the heart of the Osa Peninsula near Corcovado National Park which the National Geographic Society calls “The most bio-diverse place on the planet”. This property is surrounded by three unique eco-systems: lowland rainforest, mangroves and mountainous rainforest. There are no other lodges in the area.

This ten year established Eco Lodge is written up in all the important guidebooks, travel websites and under the new management for the last several years has received rave reviews on both and Lonely Planet.

Year round access to the property is by boat, thirty minutes from the town of Sierpe. You can also access the property by 4WD most of the year except during heavy rainy months in October and November.

The town of Sierpe is one of the port towns that accommodates tourism to Drake Bay. The newest International Airport in Costa Rica has just received environmental impact studies, is signed off on and will be built several miles outside the town of Sierpe. A bridge will be built over the Sierpe river connecting the town of Sierpe with this side of the Osa Peninsula with a new road that will allow travelers to drive all the way to Drake Bay. Halfway along that proposed road you will find this only established Eco Lodge. The future is bright for this investment opportunity as there is plenty of room on this property to expand.

The grounds are also set up for a family retreat if someone does not want to run a business but wants a place off the grid where there are only a few places left to truly be able to get away from it all.

This property is currently being run as an eco lodge with tours that include Corcovado National Park and Drake Bay. The main lodge has an owner’s quarters, living room and office, full size kitchen and eating area as well as two additional rooms. Owner’s quarters has it’s own private shower and bathroom.

There are two additional cabins. The deluxe cabin is secluded and sleeps five, has a private bathroom and shower as well as a front and back porches. The cabin sits against primary rainforest. The second cabin (pictured above) sleeps three comfortably and is steps away from a shared two bathroom/shower facility.

This property also comes with a covered 483 square foot open-air rancho near the stream (pictured below). There is a second smaller rancho/eating area near the lodge as well and a secure bodega (storage) area.

The grounds are eight open acres of flat lawn with ornamental trees, plants and flowers giving the property a resort-like atmosphere in the middle of the jungle. Old growth trees surrounding the grounds make the property private from the small community nearby.

Wildlife abounds within and around this jungle paradise. White-faced monkeys visit the property frequently to eat the fruits on the trees and Scarlet Macaws are another regular visitor enjoying the mature almond trees that have been planted about the grounds.

This is living in nature at its best. The amount of wildlife that you will see and hear on the property itself is amazing; here is a short list: white-faced monkeys, scarlet macaws, kinkajous, toucans, sloths, caiman, boas, coatimundis, iguanas, river otters, anteaters and many species of birds and butterflies including the iridescent Blue Morpho.

The property also comes with two small farm lots where there is currently planted on the first lot: eight different species of bananas, plantains, pineapple, papaya, squash, sugar cane (both red and yellow), sweet potatoes, papaya, yucca, taro and chilies.

The second lot was planted with exotic fruit trees from around the world including: mangosteen, cherry mangosteen and snake fruit. In addition there are bananas, plantains, papaya, yucca, sweet potatoes and squash being grown here as well.

The main property has an abundant supply of coconuts, which we use for coconut water, coconut oil, and fresh coconut for our kitchen. There are also many large mature fruit producing trees on the main property including: three large mature water apple trees, eight leechee nut trees, several mango and manga trees, a large zapote tree, two cashew trees, numerous beach almond trees and a few newly planted fruit trees as well.

We have also had success growing the following items: ginger, turmeric, purple spinach, cranberry hibiscus, cilantro, basil, rosemary, mint, lemon grass, oregano, vanilla, nutmeg and black pepper.

This is a turnkey opportunity but also has the potential to expand into unlimited possibilities.

We were lucky enough to find an awesome and inexpensive mechanic in town to fix "Katie 'Cruiser" all up for us. "She" runs great and comes with the sale of the lodge...This will be your main mode of transportation to and from the lodge. There is a private mangrove channel that leads to a little dock at the edge of the property. The 25 hp Suzuki 4-stroke outboard motor is like new and less than a year old...This is the dock where the boat is kept. In about a week, we will have a roof built for the dock to protect the boat and motor...
These 250 cc 2006 Kymco ATV Quad runners are a blast to cruise around on the miles of dirt roads in the area. We recently had them serviced by a mechanic and they also come with the sale of the lodge...Take your pick on the many options for transportation! This motorcycle has barely been used because we prefer the quads but it would be a lot of fun for an experienced rider!..Haul all your "toys" to any place in Costa Rica and have a blast! We had this trailer custom made in March '09. It fits the 2 quads and motorcycle perfectly and is rugged enough to withstand the bumpy roads in Costa Rica...We shipped these high-quality river kayaks down from California. There is a 2-man and a 1-man kayak. They are perfect for kayaking through the mangroves and on the Sierpe river...This little trailer was custom made for the quads to haul things around in and comes in handy for bringing supplies up from the dock...The lodge comes with 12 solar panels, 8 batteries, AC inverter, and a 9000 watt back-up generator. We are also installing a water wheel in the stream for an additional energy source...
We call this the "ranchito". It is a 114 sq. ft. open dining area for smaller parties of guests...This is a bathroom facility for the second cabin and 2 lodge rooms. It has two toilets/showers and a large sink on each side of the building...This is a 415 sq. ft. bodega/storage area that we had built behind the bathroom facility. We recently added sturdy wood shelving and a dry room for electronics...A view of the front of the house (where the kitchen is) and to the left is the "ranchito"...The inside dining area with seating for up to 10 people...This is the location of the lodge on the Osa Peninsula...
