Scalea is a picturesque town situated in Calabria in souther...n Italy, on the sunny Tyrrhenian coast. Surrounded by sea and mountains. In the old hamlet the main "street" is an attractive stairway that begins in piazza De Palma: it is a natural amphitheatre. Well worth a visit are the Norman Castle, the Palazzo Palamolla, of Renaissance inspiration and the Torre Cimalonga, Aragonese style building, now the seat of the "Antiquarium"

Scalea is on the Cedro Riviera, which is in the Cosenza Provence in the Calabria region of Italy. The people here are very helpful and down to earth, the population in Scalea grows tenfold in the summer months as the Italian holiday season begins, so between July and the start of September it is very busy here, with parties, disco's, markets, local festivals etc.. Outside of these months the town still stays relatively busy and most of the shops and restaurants stay open, which allows for some relaxing holidays as well. The climate here is amongst the best in the Mediterranean with long hot summers and very short mild winters. Which means that for 9 months of the year Scalea stays well over 20 degrees C. If you are interested in the 'Real' Italy, then this region is for you because you will see real culture and Italian life, Live Eat Sleep like the Italians!!.

It is located approximately 120Km south of Scalea on the outskirts of the small town of Lamezia Terme, just off the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia. It can be accessed from the SS18, from Scalea, or alternatively from the A3 Autostrada, also called the E45, which runs the length of Italy from the Brenner to Reggio Calabria. The drive from the airport to Scalea takes approximately 1 hour 45min on the SS18, which is a scenic route running up along the coast from the airport through the centre of Scalea.
