This beautifully, handcrafted home is located on the southeastern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and nestled in the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife and Marine Refuge. It sits just 50 meters from the shoreline of one of the most remote and unspoiled beaches in Costa Rica. The tropical rainforest of the Talamanca Mountains serves as the home's backdrop. This home is not a "lodge or camp" house unlike the few rentals available in the Refuge. It is the landowner's personal vacation home and was built to enjoy all the comforts of home with a beach front view. Fall asleep listening to the gentle waves of the Caribbean Sea and wake to the chatter of monkeys in the yard. Enjoy meals on the huge patio and decks with the sight and sound of the sea as your entertainment. Designed with soaring wood ceilings, rich exotic teak and other local woods line the walls and decks. A huge tiled patio blends with the surrounding beauty of the jungle. Fine wooden furniture crafted by local artisans is found throughout the home. Rocking chairs and hammocks are provided. Privacy shutters are in every room. Fully equipped kitchens and beautiful tiled baths. A large shoulder high window affords you a tropical showering experience. Ceiling fans provide circulation of ocean breezes for your comfort. The house sits 50 meters from the sea, offering spectacular views from any room.

This is a two level structure. Two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. You can have enough space for your family and/or friends, and still maintain each other's privacy. For families with older children, the two levels can also provide an area for the kids to have their "own space". The entire house can provide accomadations for up to 10 persons. Additional adults over a total of 4, add $35 per day per person.

Since the home is located in the protected Gandoca Manzanillo Refuge there are no motorized vehicles allowed in the refuge to disturb you or the wildlife. Guests may drive to the home to bring in luggage and provisions. When the creek at the refuge entrance is too high (a rare occurrence) arrangements will be made to get your luggage to and from the house.

The drive to Manzanillo from the San Jose International Airport includes a breathtaking drive through the Baruilo Carrillo National Park. Then on to the
town of Manzanillo. Comfortable and inexpensive bus rides can also be taken to town. Rental car companies are abundant in San Jose and can be recommended upon request. Drivers can be arranged.

ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS
The small fishing village Manzanillo is a brief walk out of the Refuge. It offers family owned restaurants that serve local foods and a variety of fresh seafood. Fish and lobster can be purchased from resident fishermen and divers, for grilling on the patio or decks. Small markets are in town with fresh fruits and other supplies. Prices are inexpensive. Down the road, the funky town of Puerto Viejo offers a nightlife featuring local bands playing reggae, salsa and other music. Handcrafted gifts, pastries and food can be purchased from roadside stands. Experienced surfers can challege world famous Salsa Brava . Other less daring surfers can find calmer waters along nearby beaches. Lessons from the local surfing crowd are available. Children of all ages can spend hours in front of the home chasing crabs on the beach, swimming in calm, natural swimming pools, playing soccer with the local kids on the beach, or spending time watching monkeys swinging in the trees from the patio or decks. Deep sea fishing for kingfish, tarpon, snook, wahoo and mackerel is available by appointment. Fresh water fishing in nearby lagoons and rivers is easily arranged by local guides. Experienced guides can also provide boat trips to watch dolphins the nearby, beautiful Bocas Del Toro Islands of Panama. Jungle guides will accompany you and your guests in the refuge and point out elusive jungle inhabitants and vegetation. Learn about the abundant rainforest butterflies, flowers and medicinal plants. Horses can be rented for beach riding. Scuba diving, snokeling, sea kayaks and surfing equipment along with bikes can be rented in town. Prices are reasonable. All activities can be arranged through the local manager of the property. We partner with a travel agency and a car rental company in San Jose. This relationship allows for one stop shopping for tours to Manzanillo and other parts of Costa Rica for river rafting, visiting volcanoes canopy tours and cloud forest trips, just to mention a few...

RENTAL RATES
May 29, 2007 thru November 20, 2007
$1050.00 per week, up to 4 adults. For large families or groups add $30 per day/per adult. This will rent the entire house (both levels) for a total up to 10 persons. Children under 5, no additional charge.

November 21, 2007 thru May 28, 2007
$1350.00 per week, up to 4 adults. For large families or groups add $30 per day/per adult. This rate will rent the entire house (both levels) for a total up to 10 persons. Children under 5, no additional charge.

DEPOSITS
A 25% reservation deposit at the time of reservation is required. Balance due 30 days prior to arrival. Holiday reservations have a 50% deposit with balance due 60 days prior to arrival.
Holiday weeks of Christmas, New Years, Easter and Thanksgiving add an additional $250.00 per week.

REFUNDS less than 60 days cancellation will depend on ability to re-rent your reserved dates.
