Getting here: you will fly into Guayaquil (gye), and then take a taxi or bus, 2 1/2 hours to the coast.
This ONE-OF-A-KIND hotel is ocean front (about as ocean front as it gets). It sits on about a 400 mt sq lot in a small town, 15 min north of Montañita, called la Entrada. The hotel sits on top of a 20 foot breakwall so you never have to worry about the ocean washing in, just splashing beneath your toes. It reins as the best almuerzos (ask for senora betty) and best bakery in Ecuador (not to mention, some of the best ‘unknown’ surf spots along the coast, and whale watching off your doorstep, June-Sept.)
The hotel has 9 large rooms with private bath and hot water, and 2 extra bathrooms for the restaurant and bar. It is all open beam construction, with perfect angles to allow natural air flow, so there is no need for air conditioning, even in the warmer months. It also allows natural lighting which will cut back on your electricity bills. There are 2 kitchens, 1 for the restaurant and the other has a custom marble pizza oven in the game room. The large game room consists of a ping pong table and billiards (all custom bamboo). There is a reception desk, 2 offices, and a retail shop (or lounge). All complete with custom bamboo: furniture, closets, desks, etc.
Best of all is the master/owner suite, 2 bedroom, 2 bath. (AWESOME)- You first walk through a giant window laced door (approx. 10’x10’) that pivots on its axis. Downstairs is a small bedroom with a private bath (with custom tile work). Then you walk up the stairs into the ocean front room and 9 meter squared terrace, sitting above the ocean. Behind it is the master bath= stained glass blocks, marble sinks on a pressed bamboo vanity, and a all-glassed in shower. The owner suite is separated by the guests rooms, by the large game room, so you always have peace and quiet.
The owner is a well recognized architect here in Ecuador, building to the highest standards. He created the hotel in mind to have little upkeep. As you may know, living beach/ocean front, the salt air can give a beating, and there is a lot of maintenance. But this construction is 90% concrete, and then they used local hardwoods, and bamboo for all the accents to give it the tropical feel. They even used Turquia for the roofing, which is the same ‘grass plant’ they use to make ‘Panama hats”. So your yearly maintenance is a little wipe down of the woods, and touch up paint….easy.
FAQs: Why are you selling? Do you have the business books/logs, for the last 5 years?
ANSWER: A little history about this hotel: It was built in 2005 by a famous architect, who resides in the city of Guayaquil. His plan was to come and retire here on the coast in the next years to come. A place where he could relax with his family, and have a little business. Due to unforeseen health issues, the plan didn’t go into fruition. Unfortunately he has to sell the hotel to compensate the medical costs. And then, since it was mostly used as a personal vacation home for the family over the last 5 years, there are no business logs. This hotel has the potential to be a great business, or a private oceanfront home (with enough space to bring your entire family to stay)

It’s sunny almost everyday. The surf pumps all year but is best from December through May. Weather Conditions in Montanita have two main seasons. From December through May the coast of Ecuador is sunny and rains at night. From the end of May through November the coast of Ecuador is cooler with mixed sunny days and overcast conditions. The Humpback whales travel up the coast to mate and it’s a great time for Ecotourism. Montanita is also 45 minutes away from the towns of Libertad and Salinas, which boast all the amenities you could ask for: fancy hotels and restaurants, big “American style” shopping malls, open markets, state-of-the-art hospitals, and marinas.
