Organic Farm Or Residential For Sale in Brasilia, Df Brazil

Fantastic Property In Brazil!!

Asking Price: $249,000 USD  (Negotiable - Financing Available)

Located near Brasilia, at 900m altitude and at one of the most beautiful areas around in the Cerrado.

That’s the opportunity of your life to live in a sustainable farm, having all the comfort of a city home! This amazing property is located 60km south of Brasilia (Brazil's Capital) and 10 min from Luziania, where you can find all the required infrastructure for living and leisure.

MAIN HOUSE
The main house is a typical Brazilian farm house, of about 300 m2, with a huge veranda where you can accommodate up to 08 hammocks. The architecture is conceived based on integrated ambient, open kitchen, fireplace on the living room, and four spacious bedrooms. The windows were built using an advanced system for security and also ventilation, adequate for the mild climate in the area.

This is the perfect space to live and entertain your fiends. On the dry season, the sky is amazingly clear, and if you are keen on watching the stars you will find a wonderful place to spend hours enjoying this spectacle... The dry chill nights in winter will allow you to enjoy great moments by the fire, where you dont see the time go by…

WATER SUPPLY AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SOURCE
The water supply is from natural mineral water from two underground mines located in the same area. Additionally, for irrigation purposes, there is a Water Wheel, connected to a reservoir/dam and piping system, allowing the irrigation of the organic crops without the need of electricity. There is an easy option to adapt a small electricity turbine to this water wheel and make the property completely sustainable in terms of energy supply.

DAM AND RIVER – AN ATTRACTION PER SE
The dam is connected to two smaller ponds, that you can use to grow fish (I used to have great time catching my own Tilapia and baking it in banana leaves, while bathing on the natural waters of the dam or crystal clear waters of the Taquara river…)

GUEST HOUSE
Besides the main house, there are two more independent houses (3 bedroom, 80m2 each) that at the moment are used by the employees on our organic production. You may opt to convert them into a charming cottage to receive your friends, or keep the production running…

GOURMET SAPCE
The Gourmet Space and Barbecue Area (90 m2) are built near the swimming pool (8 x 12m), and count on dedicated bathroom, pantry and a sauna space. This area is ideal for your social activities, to receive your friends, take your guitar and sing along the nights – no neighbors near!

NATURAL FOREST
Around 25% of the area is still covered by natural virgin forest, that will allow you great time exploring the cerrado species, and don’t be surprised to find Tucans, small monkeys, and other native species hanging around there…That is a invigorating experience and will keep your body and mind alert and fresh!!!

ORGANICS PRODUCTION
Flor de Lotus is the name of our certified organic production, started in 2007. Since then, we supply regularly the local supermarkets, we participate in a local vegetable market and also we have a network for home delivery. We produce more than 30 varieties of vegetables and fruits, including some exotic species.

In a small scale, we breed free range chicken, and you will have fresh farm eggs every day!

INFRASTRUCTURE
This amazing property is located 60km south of Brasilia (Brazil Capital) and 10 min from Luziania, where you can find the entire required infrastructure for living and leisure. You will find very good quality schools for your kids within 20 min drive, and you will reach few of the best universities in Brazil in less than 1 hour drive. Luziania is also a very live city, having many social and cultural attractions, and you will find good excuses to not driver further.

Some additional details...

CLIMATE: The cerrado region's typical climate is hot, semi-humid, with pronounced seasonality marked by a dry winter season from May through October. The annual rainfall is around 800 to 1600 mm.

FLORA: The "cerrado" landscape is characterized by extensive savanna formations crossed by gallery forests and stream valleys. Cerrado includes various types of vegetation. Humid fields and "buriti" palm paths are found where the water table is near the surface. Alpine pastures occur at higher altitudes and mesophytic forests on more fertile soils.

The savanna formations are not homogenous. There is great variation between the amount of woody and herbaceous vegetation, forming a gradient from completely open "cerrado" — open fields dominated by grasses — to the closed, forest-like "cerrado" and the "cerradão" ("big cerrado"), a closed canopy forest. Intermediate forms include the dirty field, the "cerrado" field, and the "cerrado" sensu stricto, according to a growing density of trees.

The "cerrado" trees have characteristic twisted trunks covered by a thick bark, and leaves which are usually broad and rigid. Many herbaceous plants have extensive roots to store water and nutrients. The plant's thick bark and roots serve as adaptations for the periodic fires which sweep the cerrado landscape. The adaptations protect the plants from destruction and make them capable of sprouting again after the fire.

As in many savannas in the world, the "cerrado" ecosystems have been coexisting with fire since ancient times; initially as natural fires caused by lightning or volcanic activity, and later caused by man. The great habitat variability in the different types of "cerrado" supports an enormous diversity of plant and animal species.

Fauna: More than 1600 species of mammals, birds and reptiles have been identified in the cerrado, including 180 reptile species, 113 amphibians, 837 birds and 195 mammals (WWF). Among the invertebrates, the most notable are the termites and the leaf-cutter ants ("saúvas") which are the primary herbivores of the cerrado and play an important role in consuming and decomposing organic matter, as well as constituting an important food source to many other animal species. The Crowned Solitary Eagle, Hyacinth Macaw, Toco Toucan, Buff-necked Ibis, Dwarf Tinamou, and Brazilian Merganser are examples of birds found in the Cerrado. Giant Armadillo and Giant Anteater, also found in the Cerrado, are relatively large insectivores that thrive on ants and termites.

Large herbivores include the Brazilian Tapir and Pampas Deer. Large predators include the Maned Wolf, Cougar, Jaguar, Giant Otter, Ocelot, and Jaguarundi. Although the diversity is far lower than in the adjacent Amazon and Atlantic Forest, several species of monkeys are present, including Black-striped Capuchin, Black Howler Monkey and Black-tufted Marmoset.

HISTORY: Taking advantage of the sprouting of the herbaceous stratum that follows a burning in the "cerrado", the aboriginal inhabitants of these regions learned to use the fire as a tool, to increase the fodder to offer to their domesticated animals.

Until the mid 1960s, agricultural activities in the "cerrados" were very limited, directed mainly at the extensive production of beef cattle for subsistence or the local market, since "cerrado" soils are naturally infertile for agricultural production. After this period, however, the urban and industrial development of the Southeast Region has forced agriculture to the Central-West Region. The transfer of the country's capital to Brasilia has been another focus of attraction of population to the central region. From 1975 until the beginning of the 80's, many governmental programs have been launched with the intent of stimulating the development of the "cerrado" region, through subsidies for agriculture. As a result, there has been a significant increase in agricultural and cattle production. On the other hand, the urban pressure and the rapid establishment of agricultural activities in the region have been rapidly reducing the biodiversity of the ecosystems.

AGRICULTURE: The cerrado was thought worthless for agriculture until researchers at Brazil’s agricultural and livestock research agency, Embrapa, discovered that it could be made fertile by appropriate additions of phosphorus and lime. Researchers also developed tropical varieties of soybeans, until then a temperate crop.

Nowadays the "cerrado" region contributes more than 70% of the beef cattle production in the country, and thanks to irrigation and soil correcting techniques it is also an important production centre of grains, mainly soya, beans, maize and rice. Great extensions of "cerrado" are also utilised in the production of cellulose pulp for the paper industry, with the cultivation of several species of Eucalyptus and Pinus, but still as a secondary activity. Coffee produced in the Cerrado is now an important export. The region is increasingly threatened by single-crop monoculture plantations (particularly soybeans), the expansion of agriculture in general, and the burning of the vegetation for charcoal. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Norman Borlaug has described the Cerrado as one of Earth's last remaining arable frontiers for the expansion of agriculture.

MY REASONS FOR SELLING...
I had great times at Flor de Lotus, while working in Brasilia as an environmental consultant - and this stil is my dream property.
Due to personal and professional reasons, I moved to Dubai, and, since I cannot enjoy the wonders of this magic land, I would like to give the opportunity to somebody else to build a healthy and sustainable life on this piece of paradise. I hope you are the lucky one! Namaste!
