Koffylaagte, literally translated means "Coffee Valley" and owes its name to its colorful history as the resting place of the early settler traders. The 1870's farmhouse, its decor and artifacts, as well as the ox wagon, that rests outside the Farmhouse, bear testimony to this bygone era and make Koffylaagte is a uniquely South African Game Lodge. This pristine reserve, which is dedicated to wildlife management and breeding programs, has been stripped of all remnants related to its early farming days and has been converted back to its magnificent fauna and flora, becoming a place to rest your mind, body and soul, reminiscent of the days of the early settlers.

With an abundance of wildlife, some 20 species of South African antelope, White Rhino, Cape Buffalo, Giraffe and Zebra breeding programs, as well as other mammals such as warthog, bush pig, mongoose, fox, porcupine, jackal, meerkat and primates such as baboon and vervet monkey, a large variety of birds, including bird of prey such as the majestic black eagle and the magnificent Karoo flora resembling a natural succulent garden with aloe, euphorbia, spekboom, as well as the protected Cycad and Elephant's Foot, Koffylaagte presents a rich and rewarding visual feast in this 1700 hectare reserve.

This TGCSA 4 star graded country retreat lies at the foot of the Karoo Mountain Belt, located between the World Heritage Site of Baviaanskloof and the second largest national park in South Africa, the "Addo Elephant National Park" and offers their visitors day excursions and tour programs called “Heritage Trails”. The reserve is a mere 130 km distance from the Port Elizabeth airport ( 90 min drive) and reached by 100km asphalt and 30 km gravel road passing through some magnificent mountain passes and breath taking views.

The lodge has 14 double rooms and a 3 bedroom manager's house. The estate has been commercialized for the last two years and the business is built as an up market eco lodge / private game reserve venue to hire by corporate clients for meetings, functions. The business is run by experienced and qualified managers and staff and granted with SA Tourism Grading Council 4 star in keeping standards.
The accommodation offers 6 double up market self catering units ( 2 x 2 bedroom farm house units and one 2 bedroom tented bush camp, as well as 6 luxury full board accommodation consist of 3 en-suite lodge rooms and 3 luxury en-suite safari tents. There is also reception, bar, dining room, games room and TV lounge.
The reserve is home to over 600 head of altelope species largely populated by herds of Impala ( +- 200), Kudu ( +-150),Duiker (+-100), Steenbok (+-50), Eland ( 20), waterbok ( 18), Nyala ( 25), Blessbok (24), Springbok (30), Mountain reedbok (+-20), as well as representative numbers of gemsbok, zebra, blue and black wildebeest, and breeding programs for Giraffe (4), disease free cape Buffalo ( 4 ) and white rhino (2). There are many other resident wild life species without count such as families of bat eared fox, linx, silver back jackal, herds of baboons and vervet monkeys, warthogs and bush pigs.. Presenting a very rich and divers visual fauna and flora.
The Lodge has 2 open 11 seater land cruisers for game drives as well as 1 single cab land cruiser farm vehicle and 1 double cab Nissan passenger vehicle. All in mint condition. The Lodge also offer horse riding ( 6 horses), quad bike safaris ( 5 x 250cc ATVs) and archery as part of the day activities.
Farm has 1 tractor, 3 trailers, a bulldozer and number of farm and garden machines and equipment, as well as 9 bore holes and solar pumps and entire reserve ( 20 km) is game fenced according to the valid CAE specs and have 3 lane 7000v electric fence through out, as well as a solar power operated automatic main gate.,

The game lodge already established its name in local market as a preferred weekend getaway and generated R750,000 and R 950,000 revenue (USD 150,000) in its first two years of commercial operation and managed to deliver positive cash flow in both years. The Lodge and the management is regarded highly for up keeping standards and serving divine Karoo cuisine.
