I operate an eco tour company in Loreto, offering ocean tours(scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins, mantas, whale sharks, whale watching, and camping at the islands of Loreto National Marine Park) and land activities(mule riding, mountain biking, ATV, hiking, and bird watching), and it is called bajaoutpost (), you may read about it on tripadvisor, about the hundreds of postings from previous guests. Also, until 1911, two americans operated a gold mine inside the property, and with the start of the Mexican revolution, they shut down the mine, burried and abandon the property. Currently, there is an opened dirt access road that through the dried river bed which passes 3 miles away from the property, and the remaining section can be opened. Any party interested in seeing and visiting the property needs to schedule and organize a visit with calm and specially trained mules, which are accustomed to work with tourism. The second, and probably the smartest way of owning land or any real estate property in Mexico is by forming a Mexican Corporation, and have the ownership of the land transferred to the newly formed mexican corporation.
In any of the alternatives, you should consider an expense (legal fees, plus cost) anywhere varying from as little as $2,000.00 U.S. Dollars, to as much as $3,500.00 U.S. Dollars, and the process can be completed from as little as 2 weeks to as long as 6 weeks. It depends on the efficiency of the professional hired to do all of the legalities (The Mexican Notary Public). So please consider the legalities and its requirements to own land in Mexico.
