Almost 8 years ago the current owners of this exceptional house were looking for a piece of land to build their dream for a summerhouse. Highest priority for these Europeans, with a long history with Brasil in the export business, was the maximum of privacy and direct access to the beach with an undisturbed view over the Atlantic.
As luck sometimes helps, they were also shown this house and the rest is history. Their dream house had been built already and had just been on the market for a few days. No need to look any further.
The house is situated on the coastal road leading to the small community at the Praia (Beach) de Solidao and that is where the road ends as being the farthest southern point reachable by car along the eastern coast of the island.
Being guarded from the road by a natural fence of wooden poles with all year round flowers covering the fence one enters the premises through a gate which opens automatically on command. Here one finds a wide and spacious parking area for at least 5 cars surrounded with, again, flowers and trees.
From here steps are leading down through a beautiful garden towards the house. One cannot imagine the sucking in of breath at the first time entering this “paradise” and the name for the house was known at that very moment: Villa Paraiso!!
Entering into the house made it directly obvious that the architect had done a great job together with the former owners. The choice of materials and colours were sublime in connection with the environment of this remarkable plot of land with the natural vegetation going all the way down to the beach.
It is not easy to design a house for all seasons right on the sea.
One needs to take in account to have comfortable living spaces in times of high temperatures and direct sunshine and for the times with wind and lower temperatures. It is clear that the architect had a lot of experience in this matter and created well protected decks for all activities. Whether breakfast in the morning or outside dining at night, one feels immediately at “home”. Needless to say that the barbecue area is prominent with all one can expect incl. pizza oven, large dining table with ocean view and at night the idyllic view on the lighted swimming pool and trees.
The inside of the house uses the downward slope of the plot of land to create living space on various levels and by doing this a very high degree of privacy for each occupant of the house.
A large living room going down a few steps where one finds great comfort with even a woodstove for the cold winter day.
Dining room and kitchen on the same level to make for a harmonious connection with the preparation of meals and enjoying each other’s company at meals.
One level up a cosy corner to watch TV and the entrance to the master bedroom with adjoining dressing, bathroom and toilet. The Master bedroom is fully air-conditioned.
Further up one level two bedrooms with air conditioning and ceiling ventilation with each their balcony looking out over the vast Atlantic Ocean and the bay and a joint bathroom and toilet.
The new owners, in wanting to make the house even more complete, decided to add a swimming pool, a sauna and an extra bedroom, bathroom and small office and in that way create a house where a maximum of 10 people can live and sleep with 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets. This makes it an ideal house for renting out in the holiday season when the owners are not there and people from all over the world have used this opportunity to spend their holidays in Villa Paraiso! A welcome extra income which covers all yearly costs of maintenance, guarding of the house, cleaning, gardener and still something left as the past years have shown.
Adding the extension was done in such a tasteful manner that one believes that this had always been there already.
Directly from the level with the swimming pool one goes down on well built steps towards the beach, even lighted all the way through by night, and closed off against trespassing by a door where the vegetation stops and one arrives on the beach on a natural rock formation. Going to the right brings one on the Praia de Solidao, to the left an undisturbed beach with a half hour walk to the fishing community of Pantano do Sul with the famous fish restaurants like f.i. Arantes. On this guarded beach a school for surfing and great waves to do exactly that. When the wind comes from the South one can also see kite- and wind surfers and nothing more exciting than to see them jump over the waves!
The house is fully furnished in a luxurious way with top quality furniture, beds, etc.
Kitchen is fully equipped with a 90 cm wide stove and oven; microwave, dishwasher and a professional washing machine in the scullery for quick washing and drying between rentals of all bed linen, towels, etc. Renting out is on a high level where people expect to find the best of the best and the owners have done all to make the house fit their own exclusive taste.
When looking out over the bay and the Ocean one regularly gets to see schools of dolphins and in the season when the whales come back from the Antarctica , one sees the whales right in front of the house with their young ones for a couple of days’ rest on their journey north.
The island of Floripa has a lot to offer.
43 beaches all around the island. Lovely town of Lagoa and the Lagoa de Conceicao with the kite surf school and the fish restaurants at the community of the Costa de Lagoa reachable by ferry only or along the footpath running all along the Lagoon.
Largest oyster banks of the whole of South America just at 20 minutes from the house at Ribeirao with of course lovely restaurants to enjoy the oysters, shrimps, a wide variety of fishes etc.
The airport is at 25 minutes from the house with direct connections to a.o. Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, etc.
The city of Florianopolis is voted to be one of the safest places in the whole of Brasil and the island of Floripa a pearl of beautiful nature, exceptional lifestyle where the visitor easily mixes with the population.
The Vila Paraiso is for sale as the owners have seen their Brazilian business activities slow down due to competition from China and the current school activities of their children prevent extensive stays in Brasil at this stage in their lives. They of course will continue to visit Brasil regularly as they have lost their hearts to this beautiful country many years ago and have family and friends right on the island.
