A few words about Paros
Paros is an island of Greece in the central Aegean Sea, with a surface area of approx. 165 km2. One of the Cyclades island group, it lies to the west of Naxos, from which it is separated by a channel about 8 km wide. It lies approximately 185 km south-east of Piraeus. The Municipality of Paros includes numerous uninhabited offshore islets and its nearest neighbor is the municipality of Antiparos, lying to its southwest.
A car-carrying shuttle-ferry operates all day (to and from Pounda, 3 miles south of Parikia). In addition a dozen smaller islets surround Paros.
Historically, Paros was known for its fine white marble, which gave rise to the term "Parian" to describe marble or china of similar qualities. Today, Paros is primarily known as a popular tourist destination.
Paros has numerous beaches including Chrissi Akti near Drios on the east coast, at Pounda, Logaras, Piso Livadi, Naousa Bay, Parikia and Agia Irini.

Parikia (or Chora) is a beautiful town and the biggest settlement of the island with 3,000 inhabitants. Parikia keeps a great part of its island charm and is a town steeped in history.

The coast road leads to the hill of St. Anne with a unique view over the Aegean sea. Here, the ruins of Delion can be seen, a temple dedicated to Artemis of Delos and nearby, the ruins of the Asklepeion and the temple of Pythian Apollo. The commercial part of the town lies along the sea front and where most of the tavernas, restaurants and bars are situated.
Parikia has excellent beaches such as Livadia, Krios, Marchelo, Kato yialos, Delfini, which are close enough to the centre but also far enough to secure privacy.
Just 33m from the port of Paros is Livadia, which has an excellent beach in front of the main hotels bars and restaurants along the seafront.
