Some informations concerning the house

The house is situated on the hill “Plativola” over the bay of Agia Galini Village in the middle of a 8.300 m2 property, in which, between else, there are 250 small olive trees.
From the house and the whole property there is a marvellous view to the sea, the islands of Paximadi, the villages of Agia Galini and Matala and the hills around with very old Olive trees.
The architectural design of the house is inspired from the Cretan construction rythme of the post Minoan period. The whole house is formed by two different buildings: the main house “Spiti” and the secondary house “Paraspito”, where the Minoans had their animals at the ground floor and, when they become older, their children at the first floor.
Now the Paraspito of 70 m2, is our guest house with a large bedroom, a bathroom with WC, a kitchenette, a dining room and a large balcon. All of them at the first floor. At the ground floor there is the swimming pool WC and a covered area, fresh and shadow used as eating place.
The main house of 370 m2, has at the ground floor a rest room with fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen and a WC and at the first floor four bedrooms, each one with its own bathroom and balcony with view to Agia Galini bay.
Both houses at the time were sourounded by a wall used by the Cretans as defence wall for the battles against the pirates that attacked the south part of Crete very often.
Now this wall is the swimming pool wall ! From the balcon of the guest house we can directly dive at the deepest part of the swimming pool, which is 14x7 meters, overflow type.
When sitted at the salon of the main house you can see the blu of the swimming pool continued by the blu of the sea...

At a distance of 7 kms around Agia Galini, there are various villages with beautiful sand beaches, and others on the mountains.
At a distance of 20 kms there is the village of Matala which in the sixties was the center of the international movement of Hippies. The caves on the hill where the Hippies lived are visited today by the tourists.
At the same distance of 20 kms there is the ancient (Minoan) city of Festos. The second most important after Knossos, which is at a distance of 80 kms
On the north of Agia Galini and at a distance of ~ 35 kms there is Psiloritis which is the highest mountain of Crete ~2600 m, with so many places to visit.
There are a lot of Byzantine monasteries around and other interesting places which you can find if you enter at the site of Crete island

Arriving to the property, the main entrance is a heavy metallic rolling gate with two beautiful bougainvillea at the two sides. Entering there are two stone covered roads that could be followed, one goes to the entrance of the court under the guest house and the other to the garage. We open the wooden rolling door of the garage and we enter in an area of 200 m2 where there is also a small boat with a 25 hp Mercury hors board engine for fishing or amusement at the sea. At the left part of the garage there is the pool room with its equipment. We continue going up through a stone covered stair and we go out to the swimming pool landscape. An area covered also with Cretan flat ceramic coloured stones and a grass court. At our left side there is a 100 m2 swimming pool, in front of us there is the guest house and at our right side the main house "Spiti".
We enter at the main house from the main entrance a wooden door under the covered area withe the arches where we take our breakfast at the summer. Entering at the ground floor of the main house we walk in the salon on iroco wooden floor. All the floors of the house (salon, dining room, corridors, internal stair and bedrooms) are wooden iroco, except the bathrooms, the WC and the kitchen. At our right side there is the dining room and in front of a fully equipped kitchen and a WC.
From the salon we go up through a wooden stair to the first floor where there are four large bedrooms, each one with its own bathroom and WC. Each bedroom has its own large balcony with a marvellous view to the sea, the mountains, the small island and the olive fields. From the balcony of the master bedroom we can go down to the court through an external stone covered stair.
