Kikokwe Coral Beach Hotel and Camping Site is one a quite unspoilt beach with a good view of the Indian Ocean and is surrounded by a small forest with various species of birds, monkeys and antelopes.
It has a main building with a beach front bar and restaurant. At the entrance of the main gate there is a house for guards and attendants. A few meters from the main building there is a house with six rooms for accommodation apart from a single executive bungalow which can be used by two families. 6 more small houses are due to be constructed.
The Hotel is in close proximity and opposite to Maziwe Island which is just about 1km away. On a clear day the Island is easily seen from the Hotel.
Established in 1975 it was given the status of a Reserve to protect this most important breeding place for sea turtles of East African coast as well as to take care of the important reef system around.
A diversity of nearly 400 species of fish, 35 genera of hard and soft carols, sponges and algae as well as shoreline birds have beer identified. The long reef slopes and beautiful coral gardens around the island are still visited by sea turtles looking for breeding places with 200 nests of green and olive ridley turtles in season.
Apart from the historical highlights of Pangani the laid-back atmosphere and the beautiful beaches are attracting tourists to visit this part of the world. It is heaven to outdoor adventures and activities. Rich coral reefs run along the coastline supporting a vibrant underwater world and making an excellent place to snorkel and dive. Arrangements can be made for water sports including kayaking, windsurfing, island boat trips, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, sailing and biking.
Pangani is connected by Road from Tanga. Also there are 2 privately owned airstrips which are 4 and 8 km respectively from the Hotel. Regular and charter flights connect here from Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Pemba and Zanzibar.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
• Good quality water (tested by Government water authorities) for consumption from 7 meter deep borehole. The water system is the well connected by pumps from the bore hole and distributed in the area covering a distance of 1km
• Hot water is supplied by traditional African (wood burning) system
• Electricity is supplied by Solar Panels and Generator System
• TV Connection at the main Hotel and Restaurant building with dish at the side.
There is a big garden for bananas, fruits and vegetables.
