THIS HOUSE IS BEING SOLD AS YOU SEE IT IN THE PHOTOGRAPHS.

From the street, the house presents an unassuming colonial red facade. Step inside the front door of this 3000 ft2 house, preceded by a graceful black wrought iron gate, and you have stepped into a world of luxury and light that was designed by one of Merida's most prominent architects and refined by it's owners as their personal residence in Merida. The house was designed to take advantage of the tropical light and air in an urban setting, while giving up none of the conveniences and comforts of modern life. Three private bedrooms and four bathrooms surround a sky-tiled pool with a fountain that showers sound and sunlight into every corner of the house.

Your first step inside will touch down upon a chiseled stone floor that lends an air of monastic calm to the front rooms. Soaring ceilings, ceiling fans and air conditioning keep these front foyer and media rooms cool and inviting. Beyond the foyer, step out into the light, reflecting off the central pool into the shaded patio that surrounds it. Stone, wood, wrought iron and hand-painted stucco walls exude personality, while the blue-tiled pool keeps the feeling cool and refreshing. Note the completely hand-made stone wall by the romantic alcove.

Walk through the door into the entrance hall, and a large TV and entertainment room is on the right. Through the hall one enters the covered inner patio and living area that has its own bathroom. There is also a dining area around the pool. Before entering the kitchen and rear patio building, there are stairs up to the second master bedroom level. Upstairs, the master suite features a large bedroom overlooking the central patio where guests sleep under a hand-constructed brick vaulted ceiling. The master bathroom features its own upstairs garden, open to the sky, and a private large terrace that is perfect for watching the stars on a warm tropical night.

For dining there are the completely equipped Talavera-tiled kitchen, the central dining room and the outdoor patio and barbecue under the palapa roof.Facing the kitchen is the inside dining room, and beyond the kitchen are the pantry and laundry rooms.

Through the dining area one goes outside into a palapa covering another patio with fountain and garden. You'll love the stone fountain just outside the kitchen; you might even choose to sleep in one of the equally large ensuite downstairs bedrooms, each with it own private garden, that share the gentle sound of falling water.

Casa Perlita is just a three blocks from Santa Ana Park, where visitors will find a bustling market, complete with produce stalls, small restaurants with Yucatecan food, shops, a museum, a few art galleries and coffee shops. Walk just one more block, and there is Paseo de Montejo, the Champs D'Elysees of Merida, with its stately 100-year old mansions (many of which have been beautifully restored), hotels, sidewalk cafes, outdoor sculptures and the Anthropological Museum.
At this end of Paseo de Montejo on Saturday nights, visitors and residents alike gather to enjoy Noche Mexicana, an outdoor musical show featuring performers from around Mexico.

Also with four blocks of Casa Perlita is Calle 60, downtown Merida's main street. Walk along Calle 60 to the south, past shops, hotels, restaurants, the city's Jose Peon Contreras Theatre (a 100-year old opera house) and you will arrive at the zocalo, also called Plaza Grande. Plaza Grande is always full of people and activities, the biggest of which is Merida en Domingo, a craft and food market that takes over the central square every Sunday.

The house now rents for $2500-$3500 a week depending on the season and it is almost always rented.

This is one review from tripadvisor:

“Hands down, I would stay at Casa Perlita is worth it. It's spacious, lovely pool, nice beds, bathrooms, the kitchen has everything you might want or need, wireless, etc. and it's in the best location for exploring the centro of Merida.”
