The iron handrails and spindles, formed in the design of mountain laurel, were hand forged and crafted by acclaimed blacksmith artist Lynda Metcalfe. The roof support beams of the tower come from massive timber beams that were reclaimed from a 'days-gone-by' Tobacco Factory in Rockingham, NC, that was over 150 years old when taken down. The heartwood pine that the beams were originally cut from, exhibit growth rings that easily add another 100+ years to their history. In addition to the tower's copper roof support system, the entire staircase was cut and constructed from these historic wooden beams.
