Altos del Maria is a mountain community situated 1.5 hours drive west of Panama City. It covers an enormous area and has a 24-hour security entrance. Temperatures are a few degrees cooler than in Panama City and the beach areas. However, the beaches are only 30 minutes away! Perfect weather for sleeping at night - no air-conditioning needed.

The house was designed and built by a well-known Panamanian architect/builder, Cesar Iturralde, and is situated in a secluded spot halfway down a hilly lot on a cul-de-sac, with very few neighbors.

Much use of Panamanian wood both inside and outside the house. High ceilings lined with wood/wooden logs including a cathedral ceiling in the living room. Dark Panamanian wooden doors and cabinetry stom tiling. Two bedrooms with large closets and two en suite bathrooms (one with bathtub)on the main level. One bathroom is also accessible from the hallway. Both bathrooms have signature glass block skylights, letting in the sunshine. Glass sliding doors lead to the large terrace with great views of Mt. Picacho. There is also a large secluded patio in front of the house.

Below is a small apartment with its own entrance and patio.
It contains a small sleeping/living room, a separate kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub, separate shower and a waterfall (architect's folly!) Useful for guests or could provide some rental income.

Both kitchens are fully equipped and have dishes etc. Indoor washer and dryer. Just bring suitcases! Should you want to bring your own furniture, that's fine too.

Access to the house is down the driveway or down the steps. Parking available next to the house and at the top off-road. It would be easy to add a carport to the side of the house if desired.
