The Great Western Railway Station was built in 1853, it is the oldest standing wooden station in Canada. The owners of the building are retiring.

This historic building is nestled between the Niafara Escarpment and Lake Ontairo, settled on just over one-half acre in the picturesque Town of Grimsby. Located just off the QEW highway, on the famous wine route to Niagara and under one hour from Toronto, Ontario.

HISTORY
In 1851 Grimsby was added to the Great Western Railroad track by making a foothpath to the tracks. The construction of the station started in 1853 and opened in 1855. At the time of the build it cost $680.00 from a group of local business men. In 1900, the building was moved 30 meters to the south to make room for a new station. Niagara Packers Ltd purchased the original station in 1925. It was used as a produce depot that supplied fruit throughout the country. In the 1980's the building was sold to Castle Lumber. Since 1997, the building has been the home of Forks Road Pottery.

Approximately 5900 square feet on main level. Upper loft for storage. The building was straightened in 1990'stored wood work with reclaimed wood, all hand built by master carpenter to museum quality. Pine floor and antique wood 14' ceiling.

EXTERIOR BUILDING DETAILS
123' Frontage on Ontario Street. 246' Frontage on Carnegie Lane. The lot size is irregular; 123' x 43' x 110' x 24.6' x 196.8'. New metal roof completed on half of the roof. Board and batten (wood)on exterior. Replaced original train platforms, landscaping and parking spots in three different areas.
