TURKS AND CAICOS

The British-governed Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) lie at the southeastern end of the Bahamian archipelago. The turquoise waters surrounding TCI are abundant with marine life and are considered to be among the world's top 10 diving locations. Nearly 50 species of corals as well as spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, sharks, groupers, snappers, and dolphin fish are easily spotted in the clear, warm waters.

Turks and Caicos Islands archipelago consist of 40 islands and cays which lay 575 miles south east of Miami, 100 miles from the Dominican Republic and 30 miles south east of the Bahamas. Each island is surrounded by a continuous coral reef.

The language is English and the currency is the US dollar.

MIDDLE CAICOS

Middle Caicos is the largest yet least populated island of the Turks and Caicos. The roads you see on the map are all there is! The population is only on the northside. The latest 2012 census states less than 200 people! Most of the island is government owned and protected and preserved for natural eco habitat. It’s not easy to buy into this island as property is limited for sale.

Those that have built homes here charge anywhere from $275 to $400 a night or $2500 to $3000 a week to rent out them out, if they choose. It is remote and relaxing.

Middle Caicos has gorgeous beaches and cliffs, caves to explore, hiking, island tours, kayaking, and fishing, including bone fishing, on crystal clear azure blue water! Lobster fishing nets you lobsters over 2 feet long! You can even walk out ½ mile on sand bars to Pelican Cay and snorkel around the cay. (Look at the picture of Pelican Cay, this is a short walk, approx 1 mile from the property!)

For divers the Turks and Caicos are one of the best scuba diving destinations in the world, huge drop offs, steep walls, protected coral reefs, even a blue hole on the south side of Middle Caicos.

Once you taste the Middle Caicos Cave Rum, you will be sold that this is your oasis away from home!!

There are a few small grocery stores and restaurants on the island. A Boutique hotel is being built at another end of the island.

How To Get Here

Most people fly into “Provo”, short for Providencials. From the US there are regular flights out of Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, Miami and more. North Caicos is joined together with Middle Caicos via a causeway. There are also ferries that will take you from Provo to North Caicos. From North Caicos you can rent a car to get to Middle Caicos over the causeway.
