The Camp opened in July 2009 and is set along the palm-fringed edges of the wide, meandering Rufiji River, which is one of the largest water systems in East Africa. With its associated wetlands, lakes and swamps, it is one of the most outstanding ecological systems in the whole of East Africa. Due to this unique ecosystem the Selous Game Reserve was designated as a World Heritage site.

The home comforts of the Camp with its 7 traditionally styled spacious tents, the plush mess area with an eclectic mixture o f solid wood furniture and leather sofas and the attentive, friendly Tanzanian hospitality and service provided to the guest belie the isolation and wilderness of the camps location.
