Historic Stone House by Beach

Steps from the beach on this coastal town, you can acquire this large historical house built around 1856. It has been owned by one family for over one and a half century. It is located on a pedestrian street one house from the beach, on a bay that is famous for wind surfing and swimming on the Argolic Gulf.

Paralio Astros is off the main coastal road 32 kilometers south of Argos and 45 km from Naufplion, the first capital of Greece and the Ancient Kingdom of Mycenae and many other important ancient cities. Astros is reached from Athens via by the modern Attiki OdosToll Road towards Korinthos from the Athens International Airport and then on the Highway to Tripolis exiting to the City of Argos and then coastal Road to Astros for a total of 2 hours of driving.

The House is a two story structure consisting of 350 sq. m. built on a 600 sq. m. plot. It is built entirely of stone exposed on the outside and architectural elements of interest to students of architecture. The exterior appearance is subject to architectural review committee when plans are submitted for remodeling, due to the historical characterization of the structure.

The upper story consists of 4 bedrooms, large living room and entry and balcony at the front of the house overlooking the bay. In the rear of the building, there is a large veranda with a more recently built kitchen addition. The street level house consists of two large rooms in the front, that were used as doctors offices as the ancestors practiced medicine for generations out of this space. The rear of the ground level has a domed room that contained a wine press, wood burning oven and storage and containing olive oil clay urns and an indoor water cistern.
The rear of the house has an open yard with trees and bushes that can be a great outdoor space for living and entertaining.

The pedestrian only street the house is located on, has many commercial establishments such as restaurants and boutiques starting about 50 m. from the house. The front of the lower level, could be leased as professional space ands the rear could be configured as a studio with utility spaces. The upper floor can be reconfigured as a vacation residence with modern bathroom and kitchen facilities. It can be a year around residence as the climate is so mild, or rented out for at least six months out of the year.

The House requires significant amount of work to bring it to a living condition as it has fallen in disrepair. Work will include repairs to the roof structure and clay tiles and general remodeling and updating. Photos can be provided to better describe the house condition.
