The town centre is only a 5 minute drive, offering great dining and shopping opportunities. The famous “lungomare” of Siderno is one of the finest seaside promenades along the entire Ionian Coast. There are numerous restaurants, fine boutiques, gelato shops, outdoor markets and other cultural attractions. There is also an indoor shopping centre that is a 5 minute walk from our home that includes a fabulous grocery store and a variety of retail shops. Siderno is also very close to regionally important cultural and historical sites, including the Scavi di Locri (Greek ruins), Roman ruins, the Port of Rocella, the spectacular Bivongi waterfall, the mountains and forests of Asprimonte National Park (offering excellent camping, hiking, mountain biking) and the stunning medieval village of Gerace, one of the most important medieval villages in Calabria. Sicily is just over one hour away where you can visit Mount Etna (about 2 hours) and the one of Southern Italy's most prominent vacation cities - Taormina (1.5 hours).
