"The biggest reason for the impact of this house is the big idea of twisting the street front and the garden front towards the distant views. This created the need for the curved walls, and other curves were used as appropriate. The walls in the upper level of the house were finished with a thin coat of fine plaster, applied by a specialist from Boston as a favor to the builder. There is also the acknowledgment of the liveliness of the house because of its response to changing light conditions throughout the day and night. And, eventually, that garden east fence will turn the same mossy green as the wall of the bedroom below the deck... the house is one with the Earth."
