The base of operations is a 40’ x 40’ concrete slab with 2 40’containers placed on pilings, with galvanized roofing over all. One container has been modified as living quarters, with a small bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and general area and outside deck. The other container is divided in ½, one half used for storage, and the other converted into a shop. One side of the roof continues out some 30 ’ to create an additional storage area for vehicles and machinery. Outside the living quarters container is another bathroom with shower. There is another 40'container located closer to the corral which is used for storage of feed, tack and equipment specific to the cattle.
About 50 meters from the main structure is a concrete block building used for the cattle operations. This houses an office and small laboratory with an adjacent 4 section nursery /sickbay and a chute under roof. Other infrastructure includes a heavily constructed, divided corral, and feed trough. There are other feed and water stations out in the pastures. Much of the ranch has been divided into 1 to 2 hectare sections for efficient pasture rotation using electric fencing. The farm has an extensive irrigation system, with 2 submersible pumps drawing from a year round river that supplies all agricultural areas. There is an 8,000 gallon water storage tank located high enough to gravity feed much of the land as well. The areas identified for ag use offer varying soil conditions. Previously the ranch successfully produced crops including yucca, various types of melon, peppers(for Tabasco), papaya, corn and other vegetables. At this time the ranching has been e pasture land has been improved with Toledo and Allysa grass. The topography of the land consists of mostly rolling hills with flat areas, giving the feel of a much larger ranch.
The cattle business supplied other ranches with superior genetics using South African and German Simmental stock which yield up to 50% more dairy, as well as 20% more meat of high quality with better marbling. The sales included embryos, semen and some cattle. Presently there are about 60 head left on the ranch, a mix of purebred Simmental, Simbrah and Brahman mix.
