For Sale or Rent - REDUCED PRICE MUST SELL!! A beautiful, peaceful piece of paradise directly on the beach. You will love relaxing on our amazing deck looking out at the pelicans and boats going by, and the stars and moon at night. Located on the strip of beach outside of Sambo Creek on the Caribbean side of Honduran mainland, about a 30 minute drive east of La Ceiba.
If you are interested in purchasing, we will rent to you to see if you like the area. We don't offer owner financing unless there is a significant down payment and a very short payment period.
Newly constructed (2014) Caribbean-style wooden house, designed, built and furnished to Canadian standards. Includes a smaller house at the back of the property which houses the caretaker, resulting in 24 hour security. The smaller house could also be used as a guest house. There are no houses on either side of our property allowing for complete privacy and tranquility, but yet part of a small safe community.
We have been told we have the nicest house on this strip of beach. We recently had a couple of Canadian ladies view the house. They said they wished they would have seen our house prior to building in a community further east on the highway.
Our house is definitely the newest on the strip. Not a large house but simple, elegant, modern and easy to manage and maintain. Great for relaxing holidays and retirement. The house is ready to move in. All you need to bring are your clothes and personal items. And I mean ready! I shopped for 10 days in Houston, rented a container and shipped to Honduras. Plus everything is barely used. The house is occupied only a couple months a year.
Despite only being occupied for a couple months a year, the house is well taken care of. We take pride in our ownership. The caretaker and his wife clean the inside and outside of the house, including the windows and screens on a regular basis. In August 2019, we had a team on the property doing maintenance including painting the outside and inside of the house, replacing boards in the decks and resanding/treating the decks, as well as refreshing the concrete below the house.
2 bedrooms (3 beds) 2 bathroom (one bathroom and shower downstairs) 1,200 sq. ft. home with another 400 sq. ft. of covered/uncovered deck. Open wooden ceiling. Shingled roof. All the tiles, windows, patio furniture, furnishings, kitchen and bathroom items are from Canada or the U.S. Front deck includes sun blinds for protection from the late afternoon sun. Office area in main bedroom. 3 burner propane barbecue available for grilling your favorite meals. Air conditioning installed April 2017 but not always necessary because the house is built on stilts and has lots of windows on each side of the house, allowing for a cooling ocean cross breeze. The windows have screens for mosquitos and other bugs. Plus we have 4 industrial sized fans and 2 portable fans. Hot water from electric instant hot water heater. Laundry facilities on the main floor. High speed Wifi. Cable tv plus dvd's.
The property is surrounded by an 8 ft. fence, tastefully constructed for security but also to maintain the views and air flow. There is a single car covered car park behind the house. An additional car can fit in behind the car park but because there are empty lots surrounding our property, cars can be parked along the road.
Several local restaurants and pools are within walking distance. You can stay at home and relax or venture out for world class diving or snorkeling at Cayos Cochinos, a 45 minute boat ride from your beach. The beautiful island of Roatan is a short flight or ferry ride away. You aren't far away from the mountains behind us which offer zip line canopy tours, or from the Cangrejal river and the jungle, whitewater rafting and horse back riding.
The city of La Ceiba is about 30 minutes away. It offers all you need with a big, clean supermarket, new Walmart, airport, ferry terminal, doctors, dentists, car dealerships and mechanics, hardware stores and a variety of restaurants. We particularly like a sushi restaurant close to the supermarket!
Other details of the property:
Our property is approximately 141 ft. long with 52 ft. 6.5 inches of beachfront. The beach in front of our property is public.
Nothing has been built on either side of our property. The majority of the property around us is owned by an elderly Honduran doctor. We purchased our property from him. Lots directly across the road behind us, and diagonally behind us, are owned by other 3rd parties but nothing major has been built on the properties.
The property is surrounded by an 8 foot fence made of concrete and mesh in the front. The mesh at the front of the house maintains the view and permits air flow. There is a rolling gate at the back which opens to the property. From there, a car can be driven on to the property on the cement driveway and under the car park. There is room for another car to park on the driveway behind the car park.
The main house is wooden, built on stilts which are 8 ft. below ground and 12 feet above ground. There is an 18 inch concrete pad under the house. 2 sets of stairs lead up to the back door and to the front deck. There are 2 underground septic tanks which collect all waste, one for the main house and one for the caretaker/guest house. There are also 2 fresh water tanks below ground - one which collects rainwater and one which is filled by our connection to the town of Sambo Creek water. Water is pumped up to the main level of the house and hot water is available through an electric instant hot water heater.
The main house including the front deck (but excluding the back deck which does not go the length of the house) is approximately 40 ft. square or 1,600 sq. ft. The front deck is just over 400 sq. ft. There are 16 windows and 2 sets of patio doors plus a back door. The windows and patio doors were manufactured in Houston, are double paned with argo gas in between, and the large windows have security/tornado protection. One set of patio doors leads from the main living area to the front deck and the other from the main bedroom to the front deck. The main level of the house consists of 2 bedrooms, one with 2 double beds and one with 1 queen, 1 full bathroom and a kitchen/living area. The main bedroom also has an office area. The ceiling is open and has 4 industrial-sized fans. There is another half bathroom underneath the house for use when on the beach, as well as a fresh water shower.
The caretaker/guest house is also wooden, built on stilts of 3 ft. It sits at the very back of the property. Dimensions are 16 ft. by 22 ft or 352 sq. ft. including a 6 ft. deck.
Both houses and property are well-maintained. As mentioned, we take pride in our ownership.
