Our riverfront resort is located in beautiful northern British Columbia on the banks of the famous world class fishing river, the Kispiox. Known by anglers worldwide for the record breaking size of fish caught in it's waters, the Kispiox river winds through some of the most scenic and pristine mountains and forests in British Columbia. Still, we are not far from modern conveniences in the nearby town of Smithers which offers access to airport, train and other transportation all within approximately an hour and a half by car. Smithers, located in the beautiful Bulkley Valley, is a busy town with a colorful history, friendly people, and a vibrant art community, set at the base of the gorgeous Hudson Bay Mountain and the Kathlyn Glacier. Nearest smaller town is called Hazelton.

Every year, anglers from all over the world (Germany, Italy and Japan to name a few) fly into Smithers airport (which has multiple air connections daily with several airlines) to enjoy fishing on the Kispiox river. The Kispiox is part of the Skeena river system and is revered by ardent Steelheaders for it's rich angling heritage, the quality angling experience it provides and above all, it's giant wild Steelhead. Together, the Buckley, Zymoetz (Copper), Morice, Kispiox, Babine, Sustut and other Skeena tributaries produce more large Steelhead than any other watershed in the world. This is the only place where 30 pound (and bigger) Steelhead are caught nearly every year and where rumours of 40 pound fish hooked and lost have a ring of truth to them.

The international spotlight first focused on the Skeena system in 1954 when Field and Stream reported in it's June issue that two world record Steelhead, one 33 pounds and the other 36 pounds, were caught on British Columbia's Kispiox river the previous fall. According to the article, six of the ten largest Steelhead caught that year as part of a Field and Stream fishing contest, came from the Kispiox.

Today, Steelhead fanatics know the Kispiox is home to a race of giant Steelhead unmatched anywhere in the world. Kispiox fish usually have larger girth than Steelhead of the same length from other Skeena tributaries and they can reach astonishing weights after only two years in the salt. More importantly for big fish aficionados, three salt male Steelhead are just as common as two salt males on the Kispiox, meaning that each time you hook a fish, the chances are greater here than anywhere else on the planet that you are into a 30 pound or larger Steelhead.

Summertime here is busy with camping, mountain climbing, hiking, hunting, river rafting, golfing, horseback riding, sightseeing and more. October is the peak for fishing season.

The main highway 16, or Yellowhead Highway nearby the Kispiox River Resort and Campground is a very busy route all summer with people taking scenic road trips to and from Alaska. Winter also offers much to do with a range of winter sports available throughout the area.

Kispiox River Resort and Campground is a commercial property and has 13 full service RV hookups, one larger cabin and 7 comfortable smaller rustic cabins. Additionally, there is an area for campers to pitch tents. The main house for proprietor or property caretaker has a full kitchen, dining room, living room, 4 bedrooms (one serves as a den/office), one full bath (tub/shower) and a basement with 2 additional rooms. The living room has a large picture window facing the property's driveway and a wood burning stove. An additional small room which is accessible from a door in the kitchen, serves as a guest check-in office (which is accessed by guests from the outside patio area).

The main house built in 1972, is spacious with about 1,110 sq. feet of living space. A new roof has been recently put on and the house has been well maintained. For the last 20 years, it was lived in for 6 months out of every year up to autumn 2003. The home is full of potential, where one could really work with a "ready canvas" so to speak, to customize to suit their personal likes and needs.

There is also a well laid out 9 -hole golf course, enjoyed by guests and local residents alike.

The entire property is 19.75 acres, is fenced entirely, with the exception of the approximately 1,248 river front. Gorgeous views of the river and surrounding mountains and forest area!!! There are 2 wells, septic system and full electric and phone service. Guests have access to centrally located private men's and women's shower and flush toilet facilities, guest kitchen (including 2 deep freezers for freshly caught fish) and laundry room.
