HISTORY: The once-quirky Inn sadly closed its doors in July 2005 following hurricane Emily. Way back in the mid-sixties the original Prospect Lodge became a popular retreat for the followers of the Russian philosopher Gurdjieff (predominantly groups from New York), thereby leaving its legacy of a very peaceful and happy place.
After the American Intervention of 1984, the new innovative owners ran the Inn as a 'laid-back' guest house for intrepid travellers. In 1989 the Coopers' continued this cherished tradition at the CARIBBEE INN, extensively refurbishing and upgrading the property into a country house hotel, restaurant & bar. It embraced the GATEWAY COTTAGE to one side of a more recent double-gated entrance off the public lane that slopes gently down into a flagstone courtyard shaded under a sixty-year-old almond tree.
