This Vanderhoof area waterfront home for sale is Custom Designed, 1792 square feet and finished February 14th, 2004. Guests have a choice of four rustic, cozy, lakeside log cabins located on the shoreline of Finger Lake, one large cottage or one of the 12 RV sites. This is an ideal waterfront property to enjoy as your private retreat.
Finger Lake is a great place for Family Reunions, group get-togethers and weddings, great fishing and beautiful scenery. Boats with motors, canoes, rowboats, a paddleboat, as well as float tubes are available to rent by the guests. Finger Lake Wilderness Resort is an established business with excellent repeat customer base.
Finger Lake is approximately 5.6 miles long by 1.5 miles wide, (9 kms x 5.5 kms), 877 hectares in area and over 20 miles of shoreline. There are many sheltered bays and 4 islands to explore, have a picnic, fish or just enjoy the view. A boat & motor is recommended to cruise our scenic lake for wildlife viewing and nature photography or you can take a 2 Km canoe ride up Finger Creek for a peaceful, serene experience.
Finger Lake rewards the anglers with wild rainbow trout to 5 pounds, kokanee salmon, and a very high catch frequency of tasty pan fry’s to 2 pounds. This area is blessed with great fishing opportunities giving the clients the opportunity of making Finger Lake their Base Camp to fish the surrounding Lakes – Arthur, Tatuk, Lavoie, Hay, Secord, Glutien, Dutien, Knewstubb, Hobson, Chief Grey (Bitch), Citcuta (Rum Cache), Lucas, Chutanli, Kuyakuz and the head waters of the Nechako Rivers at Cheslatta falls. For the more adventurous, there are 3 waterfalls in the area and many hiking trails.
In the fall there is hunting for white tail deer, mule deer, black bear, and moose. Finger Lake is at the junction of 4 Management Units and the resort is very busy at this time of year We are located in management unit (MU) 7-11, and at the junction of 7-11, 7-12, 6-1 & 5-13, giving the resident hunter every option for great moose hunting. All of the MU’s of course have a limited entry hunt (LEH) option for resident hunters, but 7-11, and 7-12 also have an open season for Immature Bull Hunts and Cow LEH. Calf is also open in 7-11 & 7-12. We then have the open bull moose week in late October in MU’s 6-1 & 6-4.
The Finger-Tatuk Provincial Park was created in 1999 and we were issued a 30-year Park Permit which is renewable in June of 2029. The new owners of Finger Lake Resort will have the opportunity to renew for another 30 year Permit.
When you purchase a property with a park permit, you pay a lower amount for the property and an annual rent instead of the actual value of the property up front as you do with freehold properties. To pay the equivalent freehold price makes owning waterfront property almost impossible. A Park Permit makes owning waterfront property much more viable. You can save hundreds of thousands of dollars when purchasing and tens of thousands over the long run.
Our drinking water is supplied by fresh water well and we have it tested monthly at the British Columbia Center for Disease Control in Vancouver, B.C. The septic system has been certified by a soil-engineering firm from Prince George, as well as the local Government Health Inspector from Vanderhoof.
The Power System is a generator, inverter, and battery system. Energy is stored in 12 - 2-volt battery cells with a Trace Inverter managing the system. The batteries each weigh 250 lbs (fork-lift style) and were purchased in January of 2005. The generator is a 10KW Deutz 2 cylinder diesel. The electrical portion was rewound in October 2003 and Engine Rebuilt January 2006.

We feel one of our repeat customers testimonials describes this unique resort best. This family has visited twice a year for the past number of years.
Their description follows:
For those of you who enjoy the natural outdoor activities, this affordable resort is worth a visit. For our family it is the 2nd consecutive year that we have found ourselves settled comfortably within the rustic log walls of Cabin 1 "The Wolf Den", 30-40 feet from the beautiful blue lake. The quiet is calming, broken occasionally by the haunting cry of the loons in one of the many bays that make up the lake. Ducks visit often, the white tips of their bottoms showing as they enjoy the underwater delicacies that suit their palate. The morning mist that encompasses the lake like a gossamer blanket evaporates quickly as the September sun climbs high in the azure sky. It makes you long to immerse yourself in its cool waters. The cow moose and her calf make their appearance at the edge of the west end of the lake several mornings and the fellows gather round enjoying the scene and wishing some big bull would wander by too.
Evenings are not to be outdone by the clear crisp air of the daytime as the sun settles down for the night; . . . it is like someone pulls back the stage curtains and the stars take over the darkened dais of the sky. Illuminating a sky where there are no artificial lights from manmade cities, it feels like you could just reach out and touch them. Then, the main actor for which the North is famous for takes to the stage and the green pulsating, undulating lights of the North take over and fill the sky with their breathtaking performance-----never the same---always original. Almost like stars worshiping the creator it fills your heart with praise for the mighty God who could orchestrate all that we enjoy.
After the evening performance we stoke up the wood stoves cranking out the warmth for the rustic abode and crawl between the covers for a refreshing nights sleep where no sirens or neighbors parties can disturb us. Wouldn't life be beautiful if everyday was like the one we just experienced......... it is the contrasts in life that teach us appreciation for the return to simplicity that is what this resort is all about.
It takes us about 12 hours of travel to reach this resort. The roads are pavement except the last 1 hour of the trip where a well maintained logging road is your path. The resort is run by a very friendly couple Wayne and Corinne Koftinoff and their 2 companions Blue and the Tramp. They will welcome you and share their experiences yet give you your space to relax because that is why they bought the resort in the first place. Bring your own bedding, towels and food and the rest is provided with the cabin.
There are 11 campsites and 4 cabins that accommodate 2-6 people each and one large cottage. There is a horseshoe pit, bocce game, swing set and lots of room for the younger members of the family. Boat launching is provided with the accommodation although there are canoes, boats, and belly-boats for rent as well. Free hot showers and firewood are provided. Each year brings new changes and improvements and we look forward to see what next year will bring to this rustic resort.
