PLAYA JACO, COSTA RICA Update December 2006 The quaint sleepy beach town of Jaco is disappearing before our eyes. In its place, a burgeoning skyline of high-rise beachfront developments and an invigorated downtown core await the throng of tourists and new residents being welcomed to the Jaco area. This exponential development happening is occurring as we speak, and what's more, what you see now is only the beginning. Numerous projects are working through the environmental and permitting process, and will begin construction in the first half of 2007. Returning tourists from last year cannot believe the changes that have taken place in only one year. The main road in Jaco has been paved, and tall cranes dot the beachfront. Not only on the beach, there are projects of varying size throughout the town and on the roads leading to Jaco. What has been the cause of this frenzy of development and flood of eager buyers from primarily the US and Canada?
