A Piece of Unspoiled Africa - Lodge Type Accommodation

An absolutely unique property with spectacular panoramic and breaker views of the Indian Ocean. 5 bedroom house plus 2 flats set in almost 3 hectares of prime development land.

PLUS an adjoining stand of 18.4 hectares totally forested, not developed in any way, for an additional 450,000 GB Pounds.

Both properties are set in a village 20 minutes south of Durban, the largest port in Southern Africa. With easy freeway access, this huge piece of coastal forest contains small species of buck, cat, pig, porcupine, mongoose, monkeys, and an amazing number of birds, all living as nature intended.

Not currently being run as a lodge, but ideal for that purpose, or for a Bed & Breakfast. The two separate properties adjoin each other. They may be sold separately or together. The smaller property, priced at GBP550,000 with spectacular ocean views, is 2.94 hectares in size, and has an existing modern 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom double storey facebrick home, with tiled roof, and two x 1 bedroom flats separate from the main house. There is enormous potential for further development by an ecologically inspired developer - the ideal would be for both properties to be sold together, and transformed into a small wild life sanctuary. The larger stand is 18,4 hectares in size and consists entirely of forest. This property is priced at GBP450,000. Both together would be GBP1,000,000 - this price being somewhat negotiable.

The ground floor level of the house comprises an inviting tiled open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen, with a carpeted TV lounge. The large oak kitchen has a fitted eye level oven and hob, a breakfast bar and a salad sink. A scullery/laundry off the kitchen opens to a paved courtyard. 3 of the five en-suite bedrooms plus a guest toilet are on the ground floor. Upstairs are 2 more en-suite bedrooms, with a balcony opening off both giving panoramic views of the ocean and forest canopy from both bedrooms and the balcony. Downstairs, a long covered verandah and patio open off the lounge and dining room, with a sparkling pool with tinkling water feature at one end. The gardens surrounding the house have been planted and tended with loving care, and most of the plants are indigenous, with a magnificent herb garden off the kitchen.

Tiny, dainty buck (blue duiker) are often to be seen around the homestead, and there are daily visits by vervet monkeys. Currently a pair of guinea fowl are brooding eggs. Recently a bush pig and 5 piglets were seen at the edge of the forest, and spotted genet cats live there too, as well as shy porcupine. Sometimes the monkeys and duiker "play" together, and often mongoose are seen. The bird life is amazing, including African fish eagle, long crested eagle, yellow billed kite, woolly-necked storks, and even the very rare Narina Trogon, as well as dozens of other species of birds.

Separate from the house are two adjoining 1 bedroom flats, each with its own lounge/diner, bathroom and kitchen. Both have sea view balconies. In fact, almost every room in the house and both flats has a beautiful sea view.

Amazingly, this fabulous property is close to transport, with easy access to the freeway to and from Durban; shops, schools, and the golden beaches of Warner Beach, which stretch for miles, and where life guards watch over bathers, who are protected by shark nets. These particular beaches are ideal for all the ocean activities - scuba diving, boating, fishing, surfing, boogie boarding, kite surfing, jet skiing, and just plain swimming and paddling and building castles in the sand. There are two sea water swimming pools on nearby beaches - perfect for small children. Frequently surfing and life saving competitions take place here, including international events.

The site is perfect for tourist accommodation. Durban, where some of the 2010 Soccer World Cup events are due to take place, is easily accessible. The airport is just 10 to 15 minutes away. The potential for further development adds enormous value to an already amazing property.
