The original owner must have felt like a king. Thirty years ago, he built his own castle, making the most of the sweeping views of the Magaliesburg mountain range from his exclusive Chancliff property. An eclectic building with turrets and tucked-away spaces, the castle served as a family home for more than 30 years.


The 23000m2 stand was landscaped to create a verdant garden, and the castle was built on the far end of the stand to maximise the sense of space. It has a rectangular shape, with most rooms and living areas facing onto a lush atrium and water feature.


When the current owners took over more than two years ago, they saw the potential to develop the property into something more. But instead of building extensively, they renovated the existing home to create a spacious guesthouse, wedding venue and conference centre.


Rodgetos Manor occupies two levels, each offering lots of light and tranquil views of the garden thanks to glass sliding doors. It includes a bar area, a circular chill room with a fireplace, a billiards room, an underground cellar and a tiled rooftop for dining alfresco. A tennis court and swimming pool add to the property’s outdoor appeal.

The property has been run as a successful wedding and conference venue for over a year. It is situated very close to many historical sites, and is almost on the doorstep of the new Muldersdrift casino. It is also close to the 2010 World Cup stadium in Krugersdorp (now officially Mogale City).
