Beautiful Beach Lodge on a Pristine Beach

The lodge is situated in the middle of a huge bay with no other hotels nearby. The beach was recently featured in the Sunday Times (UK) Travel Section as one of Ten Top Secret Beaches in the world. Lonely planet describes the lodge as 'one of the finest beach lodges on the Tanzanian coast'

Built in 1998 and maintained well, the buildings and grounds are in a very good condition. The owners have been making improvements and up-grading the lodge over the years.

The bar and restaurant overlook the Indian Ocean from where you can walk directly on to the pristine beach. Each cottage has it's own path to the beach with a private sunbathing area. The distance between the cottages and the beach is 20 meters. Each cottage has a large bedroom, large bathroom with shower unit and veranda. The rooms are not air-conditioned as there is a near constant sea breeze that cools the rooms through the louvered windows. All rooms are equipped with fans. The family houses have two bedrooms with a large bathroom including a bath and shower and veranda

The lodge comes with three vehicles all in good order, one Land Rover Pick up, a Mitsubishi Delica 4X4 Mini-bus and a Mazda 4x4 station Wagon. There is also an 18ft Speed Boat with two 85hp Yamaha engines used for fishing in the Pemba and Zanzibar Channel, and is complete with fishing gear.

The lodge is on mains electricity, but has a generator back up (Hatz 17KVA) which is in good working order. The lodge is also equipped with an inverter and battery system for uninterupted power.

Communications are good with two cell companies servicing the area and a Satellite Internet installation, with connections in the office, owners residence and bar.

The kitchen, which is all tiled, is well equipped, with a team of 6 chefs who produce excellent cuisine and who have developed an excellent reputation for very high quality meals. There is a large store with two Minus 40 freezers as well as a number of ambient fridges. The wash up area is spacious.

Water comes from two wells on the grounds of the hotel, and a pumping system to a 5000 litre ground tank, and a 6000 litre header tank. The water is free from salt.

The lodge has it's own airstrip 8 kms from the lodge which is capable of taking a 12 seater plane.

The lodge has built up an excellent reputation and is attracting many overseas tourists as well as residents of Tanzania. There are a number of up-market overseas tour operators who are selling the lodge, with more interest coming due to active marketing efforts by the current owners.

There is a plan to build a good road down the coast which would significantly improve the road access to the lodge and open up the whole area. Also a number of local airlines are planning to put the lodges airsptrip on a regular schedule from Dar es Salaam and Arusha.

The lodge enjoys the benefit of a nearby Marine Park where guests are taken snorkelling and scuba diving. Saadani National Park is only a short distance south for game viewing. Amani Nature Reserve is also nearby.
