Plot with Historic Warehouse for Sale in Sto. Estevão, Tavira, Algarve, Portugal

Special Property, Ideal as Restaurant, Shop, Loft or Atelier

The building is an historic oil mill (»lagar« in Portuguese) situated near Tavira in the Eastern Algarve, on a 1040 m2 plot in the picturesque village of Sto. Estevao.

Depending on the buyer´s intention, it could be transformed into a commercial, cultural or gastronomical space, but would also be suitable as a loft to live in.

It has been partially reconstructed in 2005/06, with a new wooden roof and a concrete reinforcement for the massive stone walls, but needs further renovation. Inside, there are 2 longitudinal arches, a stage-like plateau and a well with good quality drinking water. The impressive height reaches up to 5.70 metres at the highest point of the roof.

Plans for additional construction and a restaurant concept are available. In addition to the actual 300 m2, further construction is approved up to 450 m2 (ground floor), with a 1st floor possible on the new construction, from where one would have a phantastic sea view. The plot with some old olive trees is situated along a creek and could be easily transformed into a beautiful garden on one or both sides of the building.

Sto. Estevao is a quiet village about 5 kilometers northwest of Tavira and the sandy beaches (Barril/Pedras d´El Rei, for instance) of the Ria Formosa. Natural Park). It offers a good infrastructure with supermarket, shops, post office, cafés in walking distance. The Algarve motorway (IP 1) is a 5-minute driving distance away, and to get there from Faro airport takes about 30 minutes.
