It's is the third largest island in Greece with an area of 1,636 sq. km., It is 188 n. miles from Piraeus, 218 n. miles from Thessalonica. Its population is approximately 100,000 inhabitants and Mytilene is the capital city of the island as well as an administrative centre. There is an International airport 10 km outside of the city and the flight to Athens takes a mere 35 minutes.
As far as the climate is concerned, Lesvos has a mild, Mediterranean climate with lots of sunshine the whole year round.

Mytilene is the principal town on the island of Lesvos, with a population exceeding 20,000 people (not including students of the Aegean University, Tourists, etc.), built on the slopes of seven hills on the eastern side of the island.
