Lesvos is one of the most impressive islands of the Aegean Sea, having historical roots lost in the depths of the millenniums. It's is the third largest island in Greece with an area of 1,636 sq. km., It is 188 n. miles from Piraeus, 218 n. miles from Thessalonica. Its population is approximately 100,000 inhabitants and Mytilene is the capital city of the island as well as an administrative centre. There is an International airport 10 km outside of the city and the flight to Athens takes a mere 35 minutes.
As far as the climate is concerned, Lesvos has a mild, Mediterranean climate with lots of sunshine the whole year round.
Mytilene is the principal town on the island of Lesvos, with a population exceeding 20,000 people (not including students of the Aegean University, Tourists, etc.), built on the slopes of seven hills on the eastern side of the island. Here, the visitor can take a tour of the old and new markets, admire the Byzantine castle, one of the largest in the Mediterranean, the ancient theatre, the 3rd century building behind the Cathedral, which is said to have been the State House of ancient Mytilene, as well as the Archaeological, the Byzantine and of course Theophilos' paintings Museums.

Molyvos with the ancient Castle, Eressos home of Sappho, Sigri with the petrified forest, the gulfs of Gera and Kalloni, numerous fishermen villages, amazing Monasteries and many-many more places are waiting to be exploited.
