Villa Melagrano is a fully restored, charming, rural Italian country villa using its original local natural stones. The villa stands on top of 30 acres of its own private land, with two streams; surrounded by 360 degrees of valleys, meadows, mountains and forests with magnificent views of the local countryside and distant “Borgos” (small villages) that dot the Appenine hillside, and light up at night like stars in the sky.
Being that Casa Melagrano is made of stone, it is cool in the summer and with its two fireplaces and central heating it stays cozy and warm in the winter. It is reached by a private road and is off the beaten track. Each room is uniquely laid out and the house can comfortably accommodate
eight people equipped with four new bathrooms.
The Villa is strategically located 50 minutes from Bologna, a magnificent medieval city, that has an international airport, and 55 minutes from Florence, the world renowned city for rich artistic culture. The closest train station is located in the town of Vergato, about an 8 minute drive down the hill from the farmhouse. The newly renovated spa town of Porretta Terme is only a 20 minutes drive. The entire farmhouse is conveniently equipped with all amenities, towels for both bath and pool, kitchen appliances, and linens. There are two wood burning fireplaces in the villa, one large stone one in the den and a small cooking/heating one in the kitchen where most of the original cooking was done at the farmhouse in the past. It has central gas heating, double pane windows, and roll-down mosquito shades throughout the house.
The sunny kitchen is located directly opposite the den and living/dining room. It is equipped with breakfast table, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, gas hob, electric oven, large freezer /fridge, and all utensils, china, and glass wear. The kitchen opens onto a wonderful patio through French doors where you can eat outside and gaze onto seven magnificent valleys, and the wild life that inhabits the surrounding area.
By climbing a set of wood stairs one arrives on the second floor and there are four bedrooms and one bathroom which is accessed via a long corridor. Two bedrooms have their own bath and shower and the other two bedrooms share a large spacious bathroom with shower and bidet. All rooms are equipped with either a wardrobe or closet space.
There are patios on two sides of the house with breathtaking views. One is a covered gazebo that overlooks the pool and mountains of Castel d'Aiano. Giving you a choice of a sunny or shady spot all day.
The swimming pool is 10m X 5m in size and between 1.2 and 1.8 meters deep. There is a 1.3 meter tile anti-skid/slip deck all around the pool ideal for sunning. And both lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided. A fresh water shower unit and changing cabana is conveniently available pool-side.
