Many people speak some English so you don't need to speak Spanish to get by. Near by Tambor has an airport and restaurants and Cobano, 9 miles away, has a market with specialty foods. There are lots of Expats already here and you don't have to be lonely. They even have an English speakers group called Tambor Gringos and Important Friends where you can meet others who have already relocated to the area.

This vacation house is in the town of Paquera near the border of the Curu Nature Preserve. It is just a few minutes from markets, clinic/ hospital, beaches, the ferry dock, airport, police station, fire house and schools. Unlike many more developed areas in Costa Rica, this end of the peninsula has a very low crime rate. Good neighbors who can keep an eye on things while you are away are included in the purchase price.

There is so much to do do here you will never be bored. One can Kayak the calm ocean waters near by to the small islands off shore. Take advantage of the abundance of the sea by fishing from the beaches or your own private fishing boat. (There are inexpensive moorings near the ferry dock.) Or strap on your mask and fins and enjoy the amazing views bellow the waves. You can even catch your own lobster and they don't have huge dangerous claws. Go biking, ATVing or horse back riding. This is great horse country. The local don't charge much for a good calm horse. They will also rent you one for a few hours if you like. Learn to dance salsa at the local bar . . . for the active person the possibilities here are endless. Come surround yourself with warm friendly people living simple lives.
