Recinto, small town that a long time ago formed itself spontaneously and, nowadays, is experimenting a touristic increase thanks to its surroundings, pure mountain air and health effects for the human organism. The situation of Recinto compared to other places nearer to the mountains, beautiful but remote and too far away from cities, is 800 mts. above sea level, 450 kmts. south of Santiago, the capital of Chile, l50 kms east of Concepcion, the second important city and 48 kms southeast of Chillan, an important agricultural city of the region and capital of the province of Ñuble that counts with public services such as hospitals, railway station, an interesting local market, malls, airport, etc. On the otherhand towards the "Cordillera", 26 kms from Recinto is the well known spa and ski resort "Termas de Chillan" where you can find excellent thermal installations, one of the best ski resorts in South America and a new "Casino".

In Recinto you also have several services that contribute to the security and welfare of tourists: Carabineros (Police Station), Fire Station, First Aid (Posta de Salud), bakeries, groceries, butchers, small restaurants, etc.

Recinto is within the Biological Corridor "Nevados de Chillan - Laguna del Laja", an area of 560.000 has (l,384,000 acres approx.) that confines 4 important national reserves in Chile for the conservation of nature and life in the planet (there are some websites related to this Biological Corridor), established by the Chilean Government under the sponsorship of important organisations of the scientific international community. The idea of this Corridor is to allow connectivity between the reserves and the existing private properties to guarantee the free movement all over the area of the animal species and flora, all of them peculiar of this climate and many of them in danger of extinction and also to protect the landscape and water basins. The Biological Corridor Nevados de Chillan -Laguna del Laja is the only one in Chile and one of the 25 existing in the planet.

From the Nevados de Chillan and the Volcan Chillan (a spectacular group of mountains of the Cordillera de Los Andes, in the midst of the Biological Corridor) a valley descends and is ornamented with magnificent native flora, high hills covered with trees, rivers and crystal water fountains, birds and beautiful straight-cut rocks and cliffs, and in the best place of this valley is Recinto.
