The United States dollar is the official currency, Panama has one of the most stable democracies in the region, and inflation is very low as it is the crime rate. Additionally, Panama has excellent hotels and one of the most inexpensive transportation services in the world.
Mito's project is located at the southern tip of Panama's Azuero Peninsula, about seven miles outside the town of Pedasi. The locals have a friendly strong Spanish colonial heritage.
Azuero Peninsula is one of Panama's driest regions, Pedasi has just two seasons. During the dry season (December-May), you will find clear blue skies and crisp offshore breezes, and during the wet season (June-November) (the green season) you can expect intermittent rain and sun to bring out the lushness for which Pedasi is so famous.
The quickest way to access the site from Panama City is by a 40¬minute flight in a five passenger aircraft to the new 3,000-foot runway airport in the town of Pedasi (a 7-minute drive from " MITO'S "). Currently, there are regular private charter flights between Panamá City and Pedasi on Wednesday, Fridays and Sundays ($147/person, $114/retirements roundtrip). Flights depart from Albrook Airport's Air Panama terminal.
Pedasí is approximately 4 hours from Panama City by car. It is a lovely drive overland to Azuero Peninsula on very good paved roads. The town has banking services, library, Internet service, and several very complete supermarkets with excellent fresh produce.
Medical assistance for minor needs can be taken care of in Pedasi´s clinic, seven minutes away from the site. A full service private hospital is approximately one hour drive from " MITO'S ", in Chitré City. Excellent medical care is also available in Panama City in the new Hospital Punta Pacifica, which is affiliated to the US J. Hopkins Hospital.
In Panama, foreign citizens have many tax advantages, to include property tax exemption on new homes for up to 10 years. The Panama Pensionado law is considered the best retirement program in the world.
