“Little Big Sur” is an off-the-grid, in the jungle, palapa with many modern conveniences for those travelers who want an ecological, private and natural vacation home. This palapa is in the eco-preserve, Chonchos, located one hour south of Puerto Vallarta by water taxi.

“Little Big Sur” (LBS) is on a jungle cliff directly overlooking the Bay of Banderas. It is about 1200 square feet, which is open to the bay/jungle, except for the master bedroom and bathroom. LBS has a full kitchen including solar powered refrigerator, stove, oven and all the plates/utensils/pots needed. It has a full bathroom. The main living room/dining room is covered with an outdoor deck overlooking the Bay. VIEWS ARE STUNNING FROM ANYWHERE IN THE PALAPA.

NEW Jan 2023: Floor structure, floor, kitchen bar, stove/oven, hot water heater, paint, wood varnishing

Sleeping arrangements include the master bedroom (queen), an upstairs loft bedroom (queen) and an outdoors bed (king) on the deck overlooking the Bay. One additional person could sleep on the large couch in the living room. All bedding is included.

LBS is a popular rental and generates enough income to cover its annual upkeep. We have recently added a new roof, floor structure, privacy walls, owners closet, new batteries, inverter and BMS.

It is fully furnished and can easily accommodate families and couples. It has a dining room area that can seat up to six people.

HOW TO GET THERE: From Puerto Vallarta, catch the 9:00 AM morning water taxi from Boca de Tomatlan to Chonchos. About an hour later you’ll arrive at the Chonchos beach and will be greeted by the staff, who will help carry your luggage.

WHAT TO DO: There is plenty to do – including doing nothing. During the migration season, its not uncommon to see 50 whales glide right beneath the deck. Walk down to either of two beaches for snorkeling, fishing or just plain sunbathing. Kayaks and snorkeling equipment are available. There are plenty of trails through the jungle. The nearest village, Chimo, is a two-mile hike along the beach and mountains. Sometimes the best thing is to just chill by reading a book and taking in the spectacular mountains, jungle and ocean surrounding the palapa.

LBS is a also a great place for a family and friend vacation. There is enough room to sleep 6 pretty comfortably and there are other palapas nearby that can be rented for overflow.
