Reason for sale: moving to another city in the state of Rio de Janeiro. To sum up, a very comfortable and beautiful place to live.

I am German, living in Brazil for 15 years. Any doubts, just ask!

Have a look into Google's search for Ilha Primeira and look at the reviews of this place (4.8 stars). Here is an example of a review: "The best of the islands to live. Second largest island, after Ilha da Gigoia. Unlike Gigoia, the growth was not so great, and the peace and quiet to inhabit with tranquility continue to be greater. Surrounded by nature, access only by boat, beautiful houses facing the lagoon and others more inland, some cats on the streets but most have an owner, bordering the Itanhanga Golf Club and a short crossing to Ilha da Gigoia through the access Cicero's Bar."

About the Area

Rio de Janeiro is well known for its Sugar Loaf, Christ Statue, and the famous neighborhoods of Copacabana and Ipanema in its southern zone. However, during the last 20 years another area gained more and more attention of visitors: the western zone with its neighborhoods of Barra da Tijuca, Itanhangá, and Recreio and its large lagoons.

At the shores of one of these lagoons the main sports competitions of the Olympic Games 2016 took place. The beaches in this area are less crowded, cleaner, and offer even better infrastructure than those in the southern zone of Rio. This area offers more value in terms of prices in restaurants and property values, as well as cost of living in general.

There is a special area named the Pantanal do Rio or the Venézia do Rio, the latter referring to Venice, the famous Italian city built in a lagoon, and the former referring to the vast nature including mangrove forests still preserved surrounding the lagoons of this area.

This is exactly the area where this property is located: an island named Ilha Primeira (translated as First Island) in the largest lagoon of the western zone of Rio de Janeiro, the Lagoa da Tijuca, bordering the Golf Club of Itanhangá.

The newly built metro line connects this area to the southern zone and the center of Rio in a matter of 30 minutes. Just take a boat and have it release you to the steps of the metro station. This means, even though living in a location surrounded by nature, you are not cut off from the most exciting spots of the beautiful city.

Where to leave your car? There are several offers of car parking on a monthly basis in the surroundings.

There is a lot of concern on security as Rio de Janeiro is considered one of the more dangerous places in Brazil. This notion is true only if you are too unaware to know which areas to avoid at a given time or at all. The western zone, and in particular the area of the lagoons, is not part of the dangerous areas (whereas the famous southern neighborhoods attract criminals to a much greater extent).

Particularly the Ilha Primeira is considered one of the safest areas of Rio de Janeiro, perhaps together with the Urca at the foot of the Sugar Loaf. Nevertheless, it is advised to have a security monitoring system installed, which is the case in this property.

The property is located on the southern shore of the island, facing another island, the Ilha da Gigoia. It has direct access to the lagoon, a private wooden deck allowing for tying a boat of your own, or catching one of the numerous taxi boats trafficking the area. It also has an exit to the island itself, should you wish to go for a walk in the alleyways of the island and take a beer in one of the bars.
