The home is in a wonderfully central location for the mountains, with their lovely therapeutic hot springs and breathtaking scenery, yet the beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea are less than an hour away. Siena or Montepulciano are day trips. Florence and Pisa are a beautiful 2-hour drive through the Chianti vineyards and chestnut trees. All you need in terms of groceries, quaint little shops, post office, etc., are within a 10-minute drive. Public transportation is available by bus, and a train station is about 30 minutes away.
About 50 yards from your front door is the main piazza of the village, where residents mingle over an espresso or a glass of wine from the winery in town (about 200 yards in the opposite direction). The little shop has locally sourced vegetables, canned items, and wine, along with a small deli. It's great if you need a little something. You can also pay utility bills and such, and enjoy dinners now and then at the attached restaurant. There's also a hostel in town for tourists and people from all over who come to town for special programs. For example, you could learn the art of clowning, literally. There are annual festivals in the area, and indeed throughout Italy.
This gorgeous, fully furnished home is expertly restored to high standards and lovingly maintained to keep all its historic quality intact. You'll see signs of this history before you even enter the home, when you notice the time-worn stone of the entry steps leading directly into the cozy sitting room. The high beamed ceiling, terracotta floor, and even an old wine barrel warmly welcome you home. The room has a comfy leather couch and two chairs to make it a pleasant place to sit and chat. Tall, water-heated radiators throughout the home will keep you toasty, even on the coolest Tuscan nights, or throw the door open in the summer and enjoy the piazza just outside.
Next, you'll move through a large brick archway into the dining area with its extendable table (you could seat 8 people here). This area features original stone walls and a view across the tiled counter into the kitchen. This is an authentic Italian kitchen, with a brick bread and pizza oven and original open-fire stove. For the less adventurous, there is also a modern electric oven and a five-burner gas hob.
Further on, there is a good-sized double bedroom with an ensuite shower room (shower, basin, toilet, bidet). The bed is a matrimonial with a top-quality mattress. The room also has built-in shelving, a small dresser, and a smart TV.
Moving on to the other side of the home, you'll be surprised by the reading nook that provides a segue to the elegant salon (and hides the natural gas-fueled boiler). Step down into the salon, with its ancient stone walls, beamed and tiled ceilings, old-time chandeliers, and stone archway. A huge, framed mirror and very large, framed artwork enhance this room. A comfortable couch and chair welcome you to sit down for movie night. The couch is actually a very comfortable pull-out sleeper if extra room is needed. Just through the stone arch, there's a second shower room, a small office area, and the second bedroom. This entire area has beautiful, high-quality wood laminate.
The bathroom has recently been installed and combines practicality with high-standard fixtures. The bedroom has another high-quality and very comfortable matrimonial-sized bed, two dressers, and two built-in alcoves in which to hang your clothes. The curtains open to reveal beautiful old double doors leading out to the piazza. There is an electric roll-down door that can be closed at night to block the light from the old streetlamp and to secure the home when you are away. The heavy chestnut double doors to the main entrance are fitted with a very secure deadbolt system, so this is truly a lock-and-leave property. The current owners travel frequently. You can come and go when you please, knowing that your place is secure and ready to welcome you home the next time you arrive.
